I’m getting stalked by a squirrel. Seriously, every time I’m on my balcony, the same squirrel clambers up a fence post below staring at me. I’m pretty sure he’s the one I foiled from his Swiss banking scheme in my big flowerpot (nuts instead of $$). I’ve tried staring back and even–my neighbors must think I’m certifiable–barking at him. He blinks but doesn’t flinch. Maybe I need to borrow a real dog.
flyboy, sorry about the car woes. Hope it works out without costing you an arm and both legs.
red, I’d love it if you worked at chewy! I’ve heard it’s a fun place to work and that the pay and bennies are decent. You’d be a natural.
It typed worse than it was. It was more “Lucy at the Candy Factory” than "Mayan Death Temple in Raiders of The Lost Ark
The work was good, I enjoy the chaos. I am giving up my season tix with the Canes, so I will need a new team to cheer for.
{{{{gotti}}}} I’m sorry about it all. And I dread that with Gordie, him being a 95 year old man and all.
Aw, that was supposed to read favoritest - that’s what I get for posting from my tablet before I got up. Whatever. The sentiment remains.
Woke to the sound of rain on the roof, but not a significant amount. There was hail in some parts of our county last night - not at our house or at L’town, tho. And we’re promised some serious t-boomers later today. We shall see. Meanwhile, the critters have been tended and I’ve just finished a tortilla with cheese because I didn’t feel like fussing with breakfast. Caffeination continues.
Daughter finally got her car back yesterday so I have my car again - huzzah! Not that I have anywhere to go or anything. I’ll push around the vacuum today and maybe toss a load or two in the washer, but no other plans. I supposed I could fix my kiln. Don’t relish lying on the basement floor, but I’d found the owner’s manual and I now know what I need to do to fix it. And I suppose I could play in clay or something.
If anyone is interested, pics from my adventures last night start here. I’m the one in the red and white striped shirt and my tall vase is the one with the scalloped edge. The smaller rectangular dish is in at least one pic.
I spoke with the instructor for a bit - she used to teach at a local venue, but now she mostly just makes and sells her own stuff. I was going to volunteer to help her finish up our pieces, but between her craft shows and my upcoming return to Roxy wrangling (at least till her school starts) - well, I decided not. Anyway, I thought I’d share…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 98 and mostly N.O.S. We have a heat advisory as the heat index will be between 108-112 Amurrkin! No big plans for the day outside of some quality cee-mint pond time which may be limited. I am bein’ taken to sup at Sonny’s at my request. I am also told I will be feted on Sattidy but I know no details beyond my requested chawklit cake with chawklit icin’.
{{{Gotti}}} Great to here from ya! Sorry about your doggie and the loss of your job. Hope PWAISDN gets into the new space soon. The house looks good!
MOOOOOOM thanks for the bday wish, ya old broad! MWAH
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Morning all. Have soccer later today (coach training) and hopefully it’ll be cooler (going to 97F today with a 0% chance of rain) in the evening. Really do need to clean up around the house a bit and I do feel a little ambitious, so…
Hippo Birdies to you, swampy, even if I don’t see a cake by your name.
FCM, nice pictures, apparently it’s a popular hobby there.
nellie, I have a friend who virtually adopted a squirrel (would come into her house, climb on her, eat out of her hand). Maybe the squirrel is looking for a friend…
Flyboy, had a cold call from the car dealership I bought my 2017 from, wanted to know if I wanted to sell it, they apparently need vehicles to resell…I guess it could have been a scam, but I don’t think so.
Not as popular as I’d like - there are no regular classes available in my county. But since I have all the stuff I need, technically I can do it any time I want. But in reality, I do better in a class setting where someone says “Make this.” I need to take commissions… if any one would hire me…
I don’t think it’s a scam - there really is a shortage of good used cars and the crazy prices reflect that. Just looking around my area, the used car lots are emptier than they used to be and on their websites, prices are nuts!
I’ve got a load of unders in the dryer - ran the washer while I treaded the mill and watched some TV. After the stuff is dry, folded, and stowed, I’ll need to find something else to do. Like maybe clay? Or reading? Decisions, decisions…
Yesterday, I spent the morning at the Hospital while Mrs Magill got her bone marrow biopsy and a good nap, apparently. We will hear the results in about two weeks.
Last night was the Band Camp Parents’ Dinner. The kids sounded good. Mrs Magill works the Crew with the rest of the Band Dads, so she spent most of her time hobnobbing and recruiting more workers. She’s already been tapped to run the Crew next season, and has been looking at process improvement.
Nearly all is quiet here this morning. The boys are sleeping in on their last full week of summer break. Next week, they’ll start getting up at school time to prep for when school starts. The only noise besides my keyboard is a rabbit ripping around the basement, honking and checking that the door to the guest room (with its magnificent bed he can hide under) hasn’t somehow magically opened since last he checked. Itty bitty bunny head = Itty bitty bunny brain.
Off to refill my coffee - Have a good day, everyone.
Tuesday I bought some sliced sharp cheddar from Trader Joe’s so I can have snacks in the orifice. I just had two slices. I had to put the rest back into the fridge, lest I eat all 12 ounces. Yeah, I liked it.
Moomm those pieces look neat. I like the flowers rolled into the clay to make impressions. I hope you had fun.
Metal Mouse Housework?! Save some energy for the coaching. I hope it doesn’t get quite so hot for training.
Wizard fingers crossed for good biopsy results. I’m glad they kept Lady Wizard appropriately medicated for the experience.
flyboy ooh. I forgot about cheese from Trader Joe’s. Maybe I’ll head over there soonish and get some. A good extra sharp cheddar is hard to find around here.
I’m a tad irked that my weight loss has plateaued. Still, I have started exercising a bit and things continue to fit looser and looser. So I won’t panic yet.
I need to plan dinner tonight. No clue. Maybe sole? I’ve got some in the freezer I could get out. Sole and rice and maters. I might do that. This has been today’s edition of “what’s for dinner”.
Not my house in that pic, but that blue with white trim is my color scheme. Nevermind that some fool said “Huh, didn’t know you were Greek”
Question for @dogbutler - Does UPS have some sort of elfin magic at CACH that takes a day off delivery times? I ordered something that was probably fulfilled and packed at CACH, and the delivery time was quoted as two days to me. If I calculate time and cost on their website, it’s three days from that zip code.
I haven’t felt like posting this week at all. I’ve been digging myself out of a funk and I forgot how hard it can be. I haven’t felt this robotic, exhausted and just…meh since after my mom’s cancer treatment. It really crept up while I wasn’t looking, and I stopped working out regularly, so it got worse.
I ran for the first time in a week yesterday and it helped. What did not help was agreeing to go out with my friend who was trying to cheer me up (there’s no “cheering me up” when I’m in that kind of mental hole) and is notorious for her alcohol tolerance. I got mildly sozzled trying to keep up with her. What a ridiculous choice. Oh, well - do better today, right?
It’s going to be boiling hot today, so I’ll be running on the treadmill instead of outside and hopefully heading to the pool with the kids this evening. Without wine.
Get some, it’s worth it. It’s also quite a bit cheaper at Costco.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Swammmmmmmpppppyyyyy
Happy Birthday to you!}}
I tried to embiggen it and make it bold, but couldn’t figger it out.
It also wants to be on the same line. Fooey!
I’m so sorry about your doggo, Gotti.
We got some CBD oil for Vinnie yesterday and put some on his breakfast, and so I had to stand over him and watch him eat it, otherwise Gibbs would scarf it up, even though he knows he shouldn’t. The lady at the pet store said it might make him sleep a lot. He does that already. But anyway, we hope it will make it easier to for him to get up and down the stairs and stuff.
Our window A/C in the bedroom woke me up around 4am making terrible noises, so I turned it off and worried that I would have to try to source another one today. But Wifey turned it back on this morning and it’s working.
We may be getting another one soon anyway. Wifey arranged the sale of a house for a guy who’s moving to Florida and didn’t want to take it with him so Wifey said we’d take care of getting rid of it for him. Now the buyers are saying they want it, but it wasn’t in the contract, so I dunno
'Sposed to get to 98f today, so I need to get to my errands soon.
Oh, today I start on my ‘no seeds, no nuts, no whole grains’ diet for my colonoscopy next week.
Also I get to get a Covid test tomorrow. Envy me.
I had horrible insomnia last night. Think I got about 2 hours of actual sleep. Mostly it was just lying there with big bad thoughts running trough my head. I’ve felt sort of weak and uncoordinated all day. Made the decision early that no power tools would be used in the shop.
Not sure how golf league is going to go. Probably poorly, but I don’t want to skip because it’s one of the few times I actually talk to people during the week.
Just back from helping FCD move several boxes of books to his new office. First floor, right next to the copy room and right across the hall from the bathroom - pretty good location for a geezer on a cane! On Sunday, SIL will help move his computers, and we’ll probably hang some pictures and stuff to make it more homey. I think he’s excited about being someone else’s employee again. My totally unprofessional opinion - good engineers make lousy business men. This is based on personal experience and no studies whatsoever, but I know I’m right!
Supper will be salads. Chillage will follow. Just another day in paradise.
