Spackling the Crack of Dawn- An Early MMP

Happy Birthday Swampy!

\color{purple}{\text{Happy Birthday, Beloved Swampy!}} I hope you feel special all day long…and that you get cake with dinner. I mean, cake on Saturday is all well and good, but your birfday is TODAY.

Bags ’ clothes are at Goodwill. I need to hustle to the gym before it gets any hotter. 90º today. :frowning: 94º tomorrow. Ugh.

More later.

doggio, I’m pretty sure that the Preds would accept your application for their fan club. Even without Pekka Rinne, there are some pretty cool guys playing.

:hippopotamus: :bird: :sheep: :sheep: swampy!

metal mouse, when I took my car in for the 30K mile checkup, the dealership made me an offer of ~$6K more than it blue books for. If I knew that I could handle riding the bike until it could be replaced, it would be tempting.

Yay! It’s the weekend for me now! I spent the day today cursing the yahoos who feel it necessary to duct tape the sturdy cardboard padded envelope that we provide to return claims in. I think I spent about 10% of my day using a case knife (yeah, they let me play with sharp objects) instead of the easy tear strip.

It was only 96F when I got out to my car this afternoon. That’s a chilly spell, considering that it’s been 99F for the past two days.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up from naptime. Time for dinner and cocktails.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWAMPY!!!

They may have sent it 2nd Day Air

They don’t actually have a fan club, but I do have a Scott Walker Preds jersey.

I liked their Smoked cheddar.

Suppose that’s possible, but the tracking said ground. There’s a good chance it came west on a train since it left from CACH, but I wouldn’t expect tracking to mention if it was on steel wheels or rubber tires. If they decided to fly it on a space-available whim, (fairly unlikely since it’s a 22 pound, 18" cube of a box with dry ice) then it would make no sense to claim fires near Reno as a reason to be a day late. The weather in Oakland was perfect on the original scheduled delivery date.

Either way, another box of frozen pizzas died at UPS’ hand last week. The vendor sent me another box by Red Label, err… Next Day, and it was delivered on time. (How long has it been since they used actual red barcode labels with that middle piece the driver had to dig out and remove?)

Howdy Y’all! Had a day of sloth which is just what I wanted for my birthday. OK, what I want most days. We had some quality cee-mint pond time, achieved nappage, et sup at Sonny’s and then went to DQ where we got M&M Blizzards. All in all a good day.

Thanks for all the bday wishes! Nellie I’m happy to wait until Sattidy for cake. I did have ice cream today, so there’s that.

Just found out a long-time friend of my in-laws just died of COVID and his wife is expected to die in the next day or two. Florida. Most likely not vaccinated, considering their political leanings. MIL is very upset, as might be expected - they’ve been friends for at least 40 years.

I’m not sure how I feel, but there’s some anger. Such a waste…

Evening all. Went out to the Coaches training, about 13 coaches and 8 ‘littles’ were there along with the trainer who goes by ‘Madbob’. Great guy and everyone had lots of fun, left about 6:30 because there were things to do here. Have just assimilated my Big Bowl O’Sallit and need to finish my August shopping list for tomorrow.

FCM, sorry about your in-law’s friends, hope said in-laws are vaccinated.

red, my car is about 4 years old, I plan to have it for four more and already have a nice lump of cash put away for the next one. But if somebody made me an offer like that, I’d be tempted…

{{talkie}}…just cause it sounds like you need’em,

OK, back to making up the Great August Shopping List. All y’all have a good night.

Oh, isn’t that just FUN.

In slightly more positive news, the enormous Zit That Would Not Die on my cheek finally caved to pressure and alcohol wipe rubs, and, I suppose, time.

Mid-40s and I felt like a teenager on prom week for, well, about a week.

Sorry about the previous semi-literate post. I was in a hurry but wanted to catch Swampy before his Very Special Day was almost over.

I went to the gym. My back has been bothering me, so I only did the treadmill at 10º instead of 15.

My daughter has been referred to a rheumatologist by her GP. The earliest available appointment is January, 2022. This is the only rheumatologist accepting new patients in her city. Here’s a conversation we don’t have in this country: the shortage of docs, mostly GP’s and certain specialties.

I had such a great salad last night, I’m making it again tonight. I mean, you can’t go wrong with chicken, bacon, low-fat bleu cheese, avocado, tomato, celery, cucumber, green onion, and red bell pepper on a bed of romaine with a buttermilk dressing.

wordy, I salute you for your fortitude in clawing your way up from the depths. It’s weird how the very things that help us in that state are the things that state makes us least want to do, so kudos on running. I hope tomorrow’s better.

Swampy, M&M Blizzards are a pretty good alternative to cake, though my fave is cookie dough with chocolate syrup blended in. To die for. And I guess if you can wait two days for cake, I can.

FCD, sorry about your in-laws’ friends. It’s awfully frustrating to think how many people are dying from ignorance.

VanGo, hope golf went OK. Being with humans is important!

Sunny, I have been to the Promised Land, aka the Tillamook cheese factory! Surprisingly fascinating, and the workers, while busy, are very friendly, plus you get free samples! Yummy stuff that spoiled me for other domestic cheeses.

Hey, @swampbear, :notes::musical_note: :hippopotamus: happy :hippopotamus: :parrot: :dove: two you!! :musical_note:

Wise choice with the ice cream. My :dancer:t3::man_dancing:t2::dancer:t3: happy dance that you were born. Keep up the good slothage and nappage work.

happy belated swampy day, sounds like you have fun …i love the mint m&m blizzards … but our dq in the mall closed years ago… I’ve thought about opening one my self but they want millionaires to open them

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and clear (as- opposed to opaque?) with a predicted high of 99 and N.O.S. Another heat advisory with a heat index of 108-112 for the day. ICK! This mornin’ I must attend to some church janitor Junior Warden and a couple of other duties over to the church house. Then we shall be sloths to include some quality cee-mint pond time. We shall swipe The General’s sup.

Thanks again for all the bday wishes. Y’all are the bestest!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Such bother!

Happy Firday Y’all!

They are - last year (or was it earlier this year??) FCD drove to Ocala twice to take them to get their shots in Orlando. Anyway, they’re not as stupid as some people, despite never turning off Fox news… Stubborn, but not stupid.

Speaking of Blizzards, the other day I tried the Reese’s one that’s featured this month - I starting out thinking it was amazing till I got halfway thru it and realized they hadn’t blended it completely. The last half was just plain soft serve. Bummer.

We’re meeting Daughter at her classroom at 9 this morning. I’ll take Roxy to the playground while FCD helps get the 3-D printer working again. I’m wondering if that school is going to survive past this year - they’re down to 40 students (total!!!) from grades 6-12. They lost several last year to the local Catholic high school because, being so small, they can’t offer sports teams. Apparently the boys who left are rather talented jocks who have a shot at scholarships, but one must play for a school team, not a rec team. Anyway, it’s supposed to be her last year there - being so small, the pay is for crap, but because of the impending baby, it made sense to stay put rather than try to get a job while preg. More than you wanted to know… sorry…

Other than the playground, I have made no plans for today yet. Last night’s forecast deluge didn’t happen here - it bypassed us to north and south, dammit. Maybe I’ll mount up John Deere - the back yard is looking ratty. We’ll see how things are when we get back home.

One nice thing about FCD going back to a traditional office starting next week - I should be able to keep better track of the days. I lay in bed this morning trying to figure out what day it was! But now I know - Happy Firday!!!

Happy belated birthday Swampy! It’s still your birthday until you get cake, so saith I.

Thanks to anyone who crossed digits as requested- I can’t remember what I said it was for, as my brain has slightly blanked out, but basically I had an interview for a fully funded place on the course I’m doing, including living costs. Just heard that I’ve got the place, which I’m somewhat in shock about- I don’t get picked for things. That’s going to make a huge difference- no more student loans (not so bad in the UK- they run more like a tax, but still) no living off savings, no having to get a crappy part-time job to make it add up, then have to wrangle scheduling, I get to properly focus on what I’m there for.

I’m supposed to be working, but I have the attention span of a toddler on too much sugar right now. Good job it’s quiet…

Congrats, Nut!!! Does that mean you have to behave like an adult and all that??

doggio, you could be just the guy to start a Preds fan club. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mooooooom, I’m sorry about your in-laws’ friends. In reference to old folks not getting vaccinated in Florida, I’m wondering of it isn’t a form of suicide.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, bedding in the wash and fixing to do KP. On the slate today is cleaning the apartment and grocery shopping. There will likely be a dog park trip this afternoon.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

This particular couple wasn’t much older than I am - honestly, I think it was more political than anything. Very conservative, “Christians” who listen to the wrong “authorities.” It’s a mindset I don’t understand and can’t really define, but, well, I know it when I see it, and having met these people, I saw it. I don’t mean to sound cold, but it angers me when folks choose to wallow in ignorance.
