Huh, so it’s everyone else’s fault that you’re being an insufferable ass about something that matters so little to so many people. Interesting.

Your scathing wit wounds me deeply. Please spare me any more of this brutality.

Just you now. I’m going to bed. You can go to Hell.
Alabama U.S. Senator Richard Shelby:
*Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof.
“Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” Shelby said. “You have to be born in America to be president.”*

Oh for God’s sake. If you think anything you or other soldiers did in Iraq has fuck all to do with actually doing something worthwhile for your country, then you’re a deluded asshole. Anyone who doesn’t try to pretend that military action is automatically a good thing has already done more for this country than you ever will.
I wouldn’t go so far a to call you a traitor, as it’s obvious you’re just some dumb hick jar head who’s too stupid to know anything other than being a useful tool for politicians with no moral sense. You’d have to be aware of the world around you to be an actual traitor. You’re just one of the village idiots who was given a stick by the mayor and told to go around hitting things and imagines himself to be an important member of society.
It’s obvious to me that you can do nothing but fling poo.
I’m still waiting for the joke about Jewish people being frugal.
What exactly is your point here? Stupid elected officials are not confined to the South.
He’s a U.S. Senator. The state party chose him to run for office. A member of the House can get elected by an odd or gerrymandered district, but not a Senator. Can you think of another Senator who would say such an ignorant thing? Maybe Inhofe of Oklahoma. Possibly Robert Byrd, but he’s like 126.
This thread is both amusing and pathetic.
It could be the first time that my user name has been in the title of a thread but so what? I have “Pitted” people before but as far as I can remember, anybody I pitted was a public figure. Really, what’s the point of “Pitting” someone who posts in the Pit? If you play in the mud, you play in the mud which is kind of fun sometimes!
As for the OP, exception was taken to a generalization. A reminder needs to be made that generalizations are just that. They don’t apply in all cases. I could say something like, “Haiti is one of the most corrupt countries in the Western hemisphere” and some Haitian would take exception with the insistence that not everybody in Haiti is corrupt. Both statements are undoubtedly true and the truth of the second statement doesn’t negate the first statement.
Where did my generalization come from? Start with the census bureau:

Since Oakminster is so brilliant, I’m sure he/she will be able to instantly slice and dice the data and notice some patterns. Hint: start with crime, education, infant mortality and then work your way through it.
BTW, I live in an area that has been so overly stereotyped by the news, the media and the entertainment industry that I know it says nothing about me. I also know the stereotyping will continue no matter what. Big deal! I don’t let it become a source of aggravation and feel I have to defend myself against those stereotypes.
Tastes of Chocolate pretty much nailed it in Post #58:
When you have to tell everyone how smart you are, you immediately start to lose credibility.
Yes, I could have been more diplomatic and I admit to making a mistake in not posting the thread, as it was worded, in the Pit in originally.
In summation, the OP is a demonstration of a huge inferiority complex. Get over it.
Carry on, boys and girls.
Not off the top of my head (I admit, I don’t follow what they say very closely). But, over the years I have heard tell of ignorant things coming out of the mouths of politicians. That doesn’t tell me anything about the backwardness of their constituents.
The issue I have is this: having an ignorant Senator or Governor doesn’t necessarily mean that the state’s populace is backwards and ignorant. That was the problem with Spartydog’s original comment, IMO - adding that bit about the most backwards and uneducated states was just a gratuitous slam. I can understand calling the *voters who voted for him *backward, if he disagrees with the guy’s position. Leave the rest of us out of it.
You deserve what you get.
BTW, I’m not going to kick the dicks out of anyone’s mouth in order to munch on them. I’ve always had an aversion to putting them anywhere near my mouth.
:dubious:
All I’m saying is, if you disagreed with the guy’s stupid statement about the stimulus, then I can see why you’d say the voters who actually voted for him were backward.
That doesn’t make the entire state backwards and uneducated.
See?
Again, back to “generalizations” and individuals. I’ve traveled in all of these states. Nobody or no region has a claim on superior intellect. I’ve had great experiences in Louisiana, I have utmost respect for Faulkner, etc., etc. (We should succeed Texas to Mexico just for giving us the recent politicians that have done so much destruction to this country. We can do without Texas. Their oil is tapped out.)
The fact is that these states have traditionally taken in more Federal money than they have contributed. For instance, the state of Louisiana has been sucking at the Federal government tit for decades. Yet, due to inherent corruption, they have ignored their infrastructure and put their people at risk. When disaster struck, they didn’t turn back on assistance from the Federal government and most Americans gave willingly to the relief effort. (I know I did.)
Yet, when some conservative, pandering, scumbag, opportunistic shithead like Jindal (who immediately took off for Iowa as soon as the Presidential vote was counted) want’s to portray himself as the anti-Obama at the peril of his constituents, and turns down stimulus money in order to ingratiate himself with his partisan supporter then I am going to call him out.
Here’s my take on the situation and I may start a thread in another forum. The reason why these Governors don’t want to take some of the stimulus money is because the Obama Administration has vowed to hold them accountable. If they are held accountable for the way the money is spent they will either be killed or in jail. The Governors that are rejecting the stimulus funds know who has their head in a vice. It’s not a matter of political philosophy, it’s a matter of who (not the Governor) is calling the shots.
In other words, you’re bigot, and you’re proud of being a bigot.
BTW, I got to looking for stupid politician quotes:
“They’ve managed to keep their unemployment low although their overall unemployment is high.”
“On the basis that it is essential and economical, economical for the country and for Congress to have food available around here.”
“Young people, do not be led astray by the theory of voting for the man and not for the party. Vote the straight Republican ticket regardless of the qualifications of the candidate for office.”
“Those who vote for this bond issue will be putting a rope around their necks which will suck at their vitals like a deadly vampire.”
This is not from a politician but it’s just darn funny:
The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They’re the kind of people who’d stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn’t bother to stop because they’d want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club. ~Dave Barry
*note: I did not check these to make sure they are accurately attributed.
And that’s proper; if you feel you should call him out, then do it. It isn’t necessary to insult everyone else in the state (or at least those who didn’t support him) while you’re at it.
I would be interested to know why you think they would either be killed or be in jail; I look forward to reading your thread.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
