How did I call everyone else out other than the fact that I called out the guy that was elected by a supposed majority? I didn’t call out every individual resident. You tell me if the election was fair. Based on what we have seen in 2000, 2004 and the recent close Senatorial elections it is fair to ask, “who counts the votes.” I’m one vote out of millions. How do I know that my vote was counted?
When I talk about “killed or jailed” what I mean is that it can’t be certain that in very corrupt States the governor is actually controlling the spending. Louisiana has a particularly sordid history of political corruption. I’m suggesting that governors that don’t want to be held accountable for the spending of the stimulus may realize that their lack of control may land them in jail when someone in DC decides to do an audit for political purposes. On the other hand, they know that they can’t keep the money out of the hands of the crooks who have propped them up in the first place. Therefore, they take a BS ideological stand that they think they can use to further their political aspirations.

My bolding. Half that sentence would have suited me a lot better. States can’t learn, so you gotta be talking about the people. “Most uneducated” doesn’t make grammatical sense anyway - either you’re educated or you’re not. You might be less educated, but not more uneducated.
Which election are you referring to? Louisiana Senate? I’m afraid I didn’t follow that one. Presidential election? I’m fairly certain that all MS votes were counted, 'cause almost the entire Delta carried Obama. My county didn’t but oh well.

I don’t think our Governor here is controlling the spending - the Legislature seems to be doing that. In Barbour’s case, he is mostly posturing, because he knows that the Leg can out-vote what he wants. He is a pretty shrewd guy, although he tries to cover it up with an ‘aw shucks’ image; he’s probalby going to make a bunch of noises about refusing it, then go ahead and accept it.
A bunch of this $$ is going to come through FHWA to the MDOT; one thing I have learned is that you DO NOT mess with MDOT. If Barbour were to successfully refuse that sacred “highway money” some of these folks probably would run him outta town on a rail.
Not that it matters, but I didn’t vote for him. I voted for the Green party candidate, Sherman Lee Dillon, a local folk singer and top-notch banjo player. In the movie Wherefore Art Thou Brother, he is one of the three dobro players.
I like the fact that he registered just to reply to a thread he knew nobody’d posted to for 4 years. He just had to reply to all those people who have long since forgotten about this thread, and who may not even be active posters here anymore.
70 years from now, someone like him won’t be able to wait to reply to a thread where all the original posters have been dead for years.
While it’s true that an education does not guarantee an individual of insight, curiosity and sterling character it does put a few more tools in the ol’toolbox.
To pitch an easy endorsement of that concept, who do you want performing your open heart surgery… The med school graduate or the GED drop out ? Designing and building that bridge you drive over every day? etc.
In general, higher education equals better opportunities/quality of life.
