The deadline for dropping out was midnight last night. The Republicans are stuck with him.

I set my Youtube TV to record this morning’s “Fox and Friends” to see how they would report on this. Skip-scrolled through two hours of it this morning and not one fucking mention of it. Just more of them (unironically?) talking about VP Harris’s “word salads” in the Oprah sit-down last night.
I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m more frustrated and pissed off about this than I should be on a Friday morning.
Word on social media from some usually reliable sources is that the information was leaked from within his party in an attempt to get him to drop out before the deadline. Makes sense. If I was a Democratic candidate I wouldn’t want him to drop out.
AIUI he could still drop out/be replaced. If they had to switch horses now they could swap-in some other candidate, and any votes Robinson got on ballots would just go to the new person. The chances of winning with that scenario, in this case, seems pretty slim, tho. If people in his own party are pressing for a change, that ain’t good.
My wife is on the board of our local League of Women Voters chapter, and she is pretty informed about local election laws. My understanding from asking her that question is that if he drops out now, his votes will not transfer to a replacement candidate. The deadline for that maneuver was last night.
