Spice Weasel has decided to step down as an SDMB moderator for personal reasons. We enjoyed her contributions as a mod and are sad to see her go. We wish her all the best.

I just wanted to clarify my decision to step down. When I say “personal reasons,” I mean it. It has nothing whatsoever to do with my experience of moderating. I really enjoyed moderating and I now that I’ve had a peek behind the scenes, I can definitively say that the moderators of this board are more impartial, reasonable and fair than many give them credit for. Really, the whole experience exceeded my expectations. Hats off to admin as well, including Ed. Truly lovely people, the lot of you.
Likewise, it has nothing to do with anything anyone on this board said or did while I was moderating. I have nothing but positive things to say about the whole experience, and I appreciate the love many of you have given me during my short tenure.
I’m stepping down because I do, in fact, have personal matters to attend to. Nothing to worry about, everything’s fine – in fact, since I’ve turned my attention to these things, I’ve been doing much better. It’s a bittersweet choice I had to make, but I already can see that I made the right decision.
I appreciate everything, every bit of it. Thank you.
Awwwww; you were the sparkliest of mods, Spice Weasel! I’m sorry to see you step down but I hope like hell that you’ll still be a part of the Dope; you totally fucking rock!
You’ve set a standard of comparison that will make many quite excellent moderators look clumsy and incompetent and unfair.

If it had nothing whatsoever to do with your experience of moderating … why did you bother saying it had nothing whatsoever to do with your experience of moderating? … sounds to me like it has EVERYTHING to do with your experiences here … they’re going to come and take your jackboots anyway, might as well give us all the dirt you can until they find you …
I noticed that SW has been missing for a while. My working theory is that she and LSLGuy have run off together.

And so the tables were turned in the never-ending war between mods and posters. In an instant, the mods’ advantage was shifted to the posters’, faster than a sparkly shooting star. Welcome back, SW.
And I’ve heard they have filed the paperwork necessary to adopt Idle Thoughts.
Now that you’re no longer a mod I can say this without being accused of sucking up to a mod: I always liked you. I think everyone does. I think you did great, and although I never experienced the sparkling jackboots myself, I think their departure is a loss to the board. 
That would be a conflict of interest, wouldn’t it?
Dude, there is no longer any reason to suck up. 
Although I am sad to see you go as a mod, you’re stepping down for all the right reasons. You need to take care of yourself first. Best wishes.

Putting time and effort into the hard stuff is challenging enough. Giving up something you enjoy to be able to focus on the hard stuff is even more challenging. There’s a big dose of personal courage needed to take that leap. With everything else going on don’t forget to give yourself credit for that. Hopefully things keep going as well as they are as you work your way through this dose of life. If things change, remembering that strength might help you at the moments where you are feeling weak or defeated.
