They did sneak him into the Hulk movie where Hulk and Abomination are smashing up New York, so they have an angle there.
I think it’d bee neat if Marvel based Spiderman on Iktomi, the original American Spiderman. It’d be a great way to racially diversify using an honest-to-manitou NA character. (Hey, it worked for Thor)
I recall a relatively recent arc that took Parker to Africa to connect with the spirit of Anansi (or something). And, all due respect to anansi–truly wonderful character–they didn’t need to send peter “halfway across the planet to meet people who appreciate Spidermen”; the great plains are much closer!
Re: Civil War, Spidey would be the only Hero thus far in the MCU with a secret identity. I think the Civil War movie won’t be literally about registering heroes like the Comic story line was and will be more about the general attitude of authoritarianism version libertarianism but it is something to consider.
Changed my mind. I want this.
This.
Spidey isn’t the only main character missing if they wanted to do a strict adaptation of Civil War so its pretty clear that that’s not what they are aiming to do.
(I do like the fan theory that a version of “the Stamford” incident that kicked off the comics’ Civil War is actually going to happen on Agents of Shield)
Feige already said it wouldn’t be about unmasking or registering so much as either agreeing to work for the government or not superheroing at all.
According to the BBC “his looks were based on US President Barack Obama and actor Donald Glover”.
He’s actually the same age as Andrew Garfield, 31.
I’d like to see MCU get the FF. Sounds like the next reboot may be worse than the previous. It’s probably too late to integrate the X-Men & mutant stories in, with them going more with the Inhumans. Spider-Man I care about the least. He’s fine as a standalone hero unconnected to the rest of the MCU. I don’t need him in my Avengers, and I don’t need him shoe-horned into everyone’s story, because he’s Spider-Man.
I still want a Howard the Duck re-boot.
Gross. [drinks martini]
Howard’s already part of the MCU.
So what does everything think about Spiderman being in Captain America 3: Civil War?
Stupid character, stupid addition. I was much happier with Spiderman never setting foot in the MCU. Hate him, hate everything ever done with him.
Die, Spidey, die!
Earlier thread and discussion here. Spider-Man teams up with the MCU
Well, he might not really be in Cap3.
I remember reading that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would be in The Winter Soldier. My initial thought was that it might crowd the movie too much since I already knew they’d be introducing Falcon. Still, I was intrigued. I spent the first half of the movie waiting for the appearance of Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch, then for the second half of the movie I forgot that I was expecting them.
Then …in the mid-credits sequence setting up the next Avengers movie, there’s Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch! For half a second! They’d have been better left a surprise rather than be mentioned in press releases. They weren’t really in the movie and the content of the MCU mid-credits and post-credits scenes should always be surprises.
So, hearing that Spider-man will be in Cap3 just reminds me that I had heard that Q&SW were to be in Cap2. Spidey may not be any more than a silhouette in the distance.

They’re reportedly doing screen tests with 16 and 17 year old actors for the role of Peter Parker.
It won’t be. They won’t want to pay for a big name.
I’m into it obviously if it is handled right.
If he’s central and filling some of the role that the character filled in the comic, then there could be some good Cap as father figure parts. It might be interesting to see a rookie Spidey in something where he’s not the showcase.
I am thinking Spiderm-man will only show up in the Tag of Civil War. I know he was an important part of the comic story line but the MCU story is going to be much different.
