Spring cleaning – a tidying swap-meet MMP

I am SOOOOOO envious. She’s my brother’s favorite singer and one of mine as well. And she’s going to be in Mexico in April…wish I could go visit Mom AND see Diana Krall as well. Have you heard her NPR interview from last summer? She had a cold and still sounded amazing.

Nava**, here’s the recipe (with picture) from which the book takes its name…

I went into that thread, rigs. Ick. Not replying. Not going back.

Awake really early, of course. Why?

Guess I should get up and do something productive. My taxes, for instance.

Back later.

Happy Birthday, Nava!

Happy Birthday Nava!!!

Off to work, hockey tonight.

Bread is now rising. I’m posting about it (including links to posts from our discussion) on the blog so that anyone who’s interested can read about it in one place. And mostly so that I dont’ forget what I did.

It’s dark and rainy today, so I’m staying in and tearing the office apart, I think. Decided it’s time to pitch the monitor since the box it’s connected to doesn’t work anymore, but is staying until I have time to figure out how to set up my network using one of my laptops. Might get a new router for that since the router is going on 5 years old and I know that security and ease of set-up have improved since I got it.

Back later.

Happy Bday Nava!

:: hugs for herbs ::

Today was an emotion-laden day. Boyfriend send me a long email that I read this morning, about how upset he was about his father and how much he loved me. This email made me feel better than I’ve felt in days (he talked a lot about how he didn’t want anything to come between us despite the difficult days ahead). He said he’d call me today, so it didn’t even occur to me to send him a reply. In the afternoon I met a friend for lunch and we had a great chat so I was in a wonderful mood. But when Boyfriend called me in the evening he was very distant and hung up without saying much. This upset me so much that I burst into tears over dinner (and startled my parents). I wrote an email saying that I hoped he knew that I loved him and that I wanted to be there for him and to please call me and tell me why he was upset. He then called me back and said he was hurt that I hadn’t emailed him back and that I’d seemed so cheerful over the phone, and that he knew it was silly of him but that he couldn’t help it, he was an emotional wreck. I told him that he didn’t have to apologize for that. We both had a good cry and were the better for it.

:: lets out a long breath :: I feel like this is a bit of a trial by fire for us, but I know we will get through this together. They gave his father a tracheotomy which is much more comfortable for him and the family is meeting with a specialist on Monday, so we are trying to stay as positive as we can.

Sorry for unburdening myself so much here. You guys are awesome and your good wishes mean a lot to me.

Aw, Haze. Lots of hugs. It is certainly a trial by fire.

Thanks for all the info gt. Let us know how the bread turns out too! (On Monday when I’ll have a chance to get back here. )

Happy Birthday, Nava!!

I came to post my two latest baby blankets. I’ve just finished one. Here’s a close up of that one. I haven’t woven in the ends on that one yet, but otherwise it’s done. The newest one is this. I really like the pattern for this one.

Love the pattern for the green blankie, taxi.

I probably should grade some essays before I go to bed. Boo.

Haze, sounds like you and the boy are solid. You can express your love, sense when the other is hurt and try to make it better.

You will make it through.

Feliz Dia de Nava!!!
Are you impressed with my multiligualism??

I got much-needed sleep last night, but this morning included Scruffy pooping in the dining room and Taz peeing on my pillow. WTF is up with them??? Then we went to breakfast followed by a visit to Lowe’s to buy me some loppers. Loppers with extending handles. I know you all envy me now!

First load of laundry (pee-sheets) in the washer. **FCD **and daughter have to head out to get some salt for the aquarium - today is water-change day and we only had half as much salt as was needed. I need to run the vacuum and I may get some studio time later. All indoor plans, as it’s a dreary, grey, icky day.

**taxi **- love the blankies - is the first one stockinette and garter? I’m doing one - actually more of a lap robe than a baby blankie - that looks like subway tiles. It’s white border with navy “tiles.” If I can find where I downloaded it, I’ll post a link. Or I’ll post a pic when it’s done.

Off to read my funnies, then run the stoopit vacuum.

Yes, FCM, it’s just stockinette for the squares and garter for the outside borders and the spaces between the squares. Pretty simple. And definitely post pics of your blanket when you’re done! I love looking at other people’s projects.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Nava!!!

Scruffy just horked on the rug. That’s a trifecta of pet messes for today. swell.

Oh, ick. Sorry, FCM.

((((Haze)))). Continuing prayers for all of you headed out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NAVA!!!

Wet and windy around here, Just cleaned out the fridge, Nat and Mr. Lissar are upstairs playing with blocks and lego, and I’m trying to meal plan for the week and wondering why I want to mop the floor. Nesting or something. Also, what do I want for lunch?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAVA!

Big hugs to you Haze.

Hm, could be nesting instinct **Li-Li! **Just don’t go trying to actually move the fridge to clean under and behind it!

Today is a friend’s birthday. This evening, we’re going to another friend’s house to celebrate it with good food, drinks and good times.

Sorry about the animal messes, FCM. My dog seems to like to hork that green/yellow bile stuff every time I steam clean the carpet. That stuff is a bitch to get ouf the carpet.

My stomach was not impressed with lunch and is currently staging a protest. Yuck.

More hugs for you, Haze. It’s hard to navigate through such an emotional time when you’re so far apart (it’s hard enough when you’re in the same place). Glad you got to talk and cry it out. I think that’s really the best thing. Sounds like you’re working your way to a really solid place, though, the two of you.

Definitely sounds like nesting, **LiLi **(not that I’m an expert).

Pretty blankets, taxi. I especially like the green one.

Sorry for the extra laundry, FCM.

Bread is out of the oven. Looks pretty and smells yummy.

In the spirit of this week’s MMP, I am cleaning out drawers and starting to cull belongings… I have way too much junk.

Back later.

Hugs.

GT

I think it’s more an awareness that the floor is kind of gross. And now I’ve thrown up and had a blood sugar crash, so my rest-of-day plans are mostly about napping.
Need to do some coffee cake baking sometime. Maybe teach Mr. Lissar to make it? It’s his breakfast every day.

Well, I just found out that *someone *drained 24 gallons of salt water from the aquarium and dumped it on the front lawn. “It’s raining - it’ll dilute it!” :smack:

Yeah, I’m stabby.

Third load in the washer, second in the dryer. Two more to go, I think. I need a knit break.

Well? Gnat2, where are you, eh?

Thanks everybody
Mom’s been spending this week with her Parental Units; I spoke with her on Wednesday and she said they had been “behaving” (which is very unusual when it happens for more than half an hour, apparently they’re finally feeling their age). She was supposed to have returned home today, but according to an email from my bros, she’s staying because Cousin and her are trying to convince them to get a nurse (they’re also sort of pushing the paperwork around at the same time). Last week Mom said it’s a pity Cousin doesn’t want kids and I, after attaching my halo firmly (Cousin is female too and we’re the same age), asked whether taking care of two brats over age 90 wasn’t work enough…

I am back from the shops and $350 poorer. I got:

  1. those Skecher Shape Ups. I had seen something similar a few years ago by another company, but theirs were $230. Mine were $100. I have them on and my feet don’t hurt. Yay! I plan on wearing them to RN work, so I’m getting used to them.

  2. A different pair of shoes: gray-ish suede (kind of olive drab) that pull on–on sale!

  3. 6 blouses for work. All of them cotton, 3/4 sleeve (because 2 stores had nothing but 3/4 length), button down etc. Most of them striped. ALL on sale, 2 on clearance.

  4. 3 cotton sweaters to mix and match with said blouses. Not on sale. Boo.

I tried on several pairs of pants, but am (apparently) having a “no pants fit” day. I looked at skirts, but nothing said YES! to me (I’m not big on skirts).

  1. Headband (4.99) for the sole reason that if I spent $2 more, I got another 20% off coupon. And it’s a cool headband.

I didn’t do too badly, really.

Hazel–one day at a time. Be patient with IrishDude; he’s in hell. Not that you’re having a picnic, either, but… I’m really glad you both talked and cried about all this.

It’s raining here and yucky out, but I saw my first robin today(I’ve been hearing them for a few days). Very nice to see. I made banana bread and went to the library as well. Laundry in the dryer. Am reading MM Kaye’s The Far Pavilions. Very thick (and heavy), but good.
