(Old) Springing into cleaning in the MMP

Don’t you know that deli chicken is something that has to be stolen from the human’s fingers to be enjoyed? Them’ the rules.

The old people diabetic shoes came in. I wore them to take Nelson out before bed and they’re comfortable. They’re adjustable enough for swollen feet days and stay on my feet better than house slippers. While they’re not as supportive as my sneakers, they will be good yard shoes and bad day shoes.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s current;y 63 degrees Ferret Hewight(17.222 Centipedes)

He does in fact enjoy salami. I guess I should rename him “Don Spottini”.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Overcast fucking sadness.” Oh, it’s not that bad, I can see sunshine from my window.

Mollie of course you will be nervous, you are on a massive journey and taking Mrs Magill along for the ride. I’m glad she is able to find some online support that’s useful to her, and that she’s got someone else to talk to. Sounds like you have a supportive family and that’s important.

One of the best trips we ever took was Amtrak’s Coast Starlight from LA through to Seattle. We went for a roomette which was comfortable enough for us, ‘im indoors wasn’t keen on the upper bed so I had that one. The scenery was stunning and it was well worth the cost of the ticket. We’ve also been on the California Zephyr from Denver to San Francisco, the Michigan Services route from Chicago to Detroit, the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego to Santa Barbara, and the Southwest Chief from LA to Flagstaff.

Cookie ham is pretty versatile, and you can use it for pretty much any meal of the day so hopefully it won’t hang around for too long.

I’ve had all my piercings done at a tattoo studio, the danger then is I get a tattoo as well!

doggio how could you resist that little furry face?

Yesterday was a fairly quiet workday, got some stuff done but had some frustrations with other things. The journey home wasn’t bad, so the working week ended well. We had leftover chilli from the freezer for dinner, watched a bit of High Potential and the last two episodes of Murderbot before I went to bed.

I managed to stay in bed until 8am, then got forced out by two very demanding cats who refused to leave me in peace until I agreed to provide breakfast. Litter trays were cleaned, food provided, and I am working my way through a decent quantity of tea. ‘im indoors is up now, and we’re off to our respective gyms later. I’ve done a load of laundry so that needs to be hung up in the bathroom before I can leave the house. I also need to go via the supermarket for a couple of things so that needs to be factored in. Tonight we’re off to see some bands at the Giffard so it’ll be a late night, but that’s fine because we’ve got nothing planned for Saturday.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and cloudy with possible rain around six p.m. Looks like a soggy next three days in these parts. We did not get shorn yestiddy cause the haircut place was closed, so we shall do so today. Long John Silver’s will provide today’s main need to feed at lunchtime. We will attend Good Friday service at six p.m.

Maundy Thursday service was nice but loooooong! We finally got out of there at eight-thirty last night. I assisted with foot washin’ and a good number of folk participated which is good, but also the main reason the service was so long. Well that and the agape supper which was good.

I have read everything and promise to be more responsive later. For now though, yays, boos, hugh, trouts, chitlins and how you doin’s all around as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Firday Y’all! A bleesed Good Friday to all who observe.

Good morning from Elkhart, where it’s 59 degrees F, and getting cooler, down to 56 at 11:00 am, then rising to 61 at about 4:00 pm. Cloudy and breezy.

Wow! I think I did take a train once from DC to Philadelphia when I was working for my dad - to get some papers signed (back in the early 70s) I thought about going DC to New Orleans to LA to San Diego - I’ll look at that route today. Considerations are price and time - our cruise leaves San Diego on Jan 29 and I want at least one full day to revisit my past, maybe 2. Anyway, plenty of time to plan.

Last year, I made deviled eggs with chopped bits of ham in the filling. It was much yummy!!

I woke just before 3 and my feetsies were FREEZING!!! This is under a sheet, a blanket, and an afghan. So I got up and put on some socks, but I didn’t fall back to sleep till nearly 5, which is why I finally dragged out of bed just before 7:30. It’s laundry day, so I have that going for me, and being a foggy morning, I don’t feel confined indoors. In theory, it’ll be 80 Ferrets and sunny this afternoon, but the morning started at 48 Ferrets. Rain Sunday means Daughter will set up the egg hunt indoors.

Our pet sitter’s pup was spayed yesterday and her spleen got nicked, so poor pup will require special attention, meaning Otis will have to stay home Sunday. He’ll be OK for the few hours alone, then Daughter will be here. (We’ll get back from my sister’s by 4 - we have a good excuse this time.) I was going to let her bring Trevor, but both dogs indoors is a bad idea… even worse is both dogs going in and out with it raining. I’ll discuss it with her.

I saw where Teeter has canned Diet Coke buy 2 get 3 free, which comes to a reasonable cost per carton, so I’ll get some for FCD. since he prefers canned to bottled. I may do that first thing before starting laundry. We’ll see.

Happy Firday and/or Good Friday as applies.

Look closer.

Well, that was a quick and easy look - taking the southern route would require spending a night in New Orleans. That loses out to the 8-ish hours in Chicago between trains. So what I’m looking at is leaving DC on my birthday for an overnight trip to Chicago, then leaving Chicago on the 24th, arriving in San Diego on the 26th. That gives us half a day to get a rental car and to our hotel, then 2 full days of touristing, and boarding the ship the next day. It’ll also give us time to launder our train and tourist clothes before repacking and boarding the ship. I think that works well.

Then we’ll just fly home from Fort Lauderdale at the end of the cruise. And that’s on Valentine’s day, which is a Sunday, which makes it easy for Daughter to pick us up at the airport. The plan starts to gel…

Wait… Why would you not want to RON in New Orleans?

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 43F and cloudy outside. The clouds should part a little for the afternoon, and our expected daytime high is 60F.

My husband’s surgery went well, and he did indeed notice a huge improvement pretty much right after he was done. We’re leaving in around an hour for his follow-up appointment.

Not much else on the agenda for today. If my son has the time to say hello, we’ll pop in since we’ll be down that way anyway. Other than that, I’m sure today’s trip will include a stop for food and then probably back home to hang out or take care of some minor stuff.

Alrighty, time to get the day in gear. Take care!

The timing means getting off the train around 9:30, getting a hotel, then getting up early to catch the next train. Nope.

Morning all. Had a BIG Breakfast and plan to leave about 11am which should get me to Atlanta about 3-4pm. Going to the inaugural “AV-Con”, which is a gathering for folks who watch Aviation travel videos way to much (raises hand). Three of the folks I watch weekly wlll be there, and while I expect it will be more of a ‘buy our merchandize’ thing it gets me away from the house for a couple days and lets me relax and maybe ramble about some–or at least watch planes. Looks like a clear day and temps in the 80’s so should be an easy drive.

I still have that on my bucket list. Looking forward to the Nice - Barcelona rail trip on my vacation.

:open_mouth: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

swampy, a good Good Friday to you.

FCM, keep an eye on those freezing feet. Might mean something (not a doctor nor am I staying in a Holiday Inn Express). And our Kroger occasionally has a “Buy 3 12-packs, get 3 Free” deal, so just half-price which is when I try to stock up. And sounds like a good plan for the rail trip.

Taters, glad to hear the surgery went well.

And need to print out a few things and then do my packing. Will hopefully communicate during the trip when I can. Have a good weekend all.

Good Morning, everyone! We did our walk this morning. Mrs Magill mentioned on our walk about being able to smell something that I could not, and how estrogen might increase my sense of smell. Things like that make me want to bulldoze ahead, but I don’t think that’s a good idea. After my disastrous first marriage, I decided to date for a year before I proposed (no matter how right it felt), and to be engaged for a year before getting married. That approach worked out well for me then, and I think careful and deliberate now would behoove me. I can hear you all think, “Oh jeez, she’s talking about gender stuff again.” Sorry about that - I really try not to be a one trick pony.

It’s Good Friday. That is a moniker I never understood. A wise dude was subjected to a sham trial and painfully executed this day[1]. I don’t see much good about it. BBBoo and Swampy is Maundy Thursday the day when the extinguish the perpetual candle? I’ve noticed that it’s lit on Palm Sunday and it’s out at the beginning of the Easter Vigil service on Saturday night. Just curiosity from someone who’s been attending Episcopal services for twenty-five years, but never took any confirmation classes.

FCM My father is a big train-head. One of his dreams is to ride from LA to Raleigh. He recommended taking the northern route to LA, as there are dedicated Amtrack rails in the north as opposed to the South, where you can sit on sidings for hours at a time.

  1. or thereabouts ↩︎

I’ve dealt with cold feet since pretty much forever. It’s just the way I am. Socks do the trick every time. Unless the socks are wet, then all bets are off.

That’s the plan. And it looks like we’ll do Miami to DC for our return since it’s like half the cost of flying. Still looking.

Meanwhile, off to Teeter!

JtC farrier is for feet hooves. The vet comes next week to file her teeth.

While not Whiskeypalian, in RC rites, after foot washing on Maundy Thursday, the altar is stripped and the candle extinguished in preparation for Good Friday. It stays that way until the Easter Vigil Saturday evening.

A blessed Good Friday to all who observe. TGIF to those who don’t.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I have a couple of phone calls to do today and a load of towels, but mostly RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I was doing the 300 Slide today, plus the leftover Twilight stuff. It wasn’t horrible till the end, then it was. I’m having a bowl of dry, flavorless bits9with milk and blueberries) and a banana for breakfast. The laundry is sloshing.

If I do, he escalates to Terrible Tuxedo Tantrums.

Dunno, that much foot washing might put me off my appeitite.

Why not get 'em both cute raincoats like Nelson’s?

Yay!

< raises hand also >

Cripes. Woke up this morning feeling like shit. Really dragging and feeling like a hundred years old. Could not get my collective shit together, although I did make an omelet and had a cuppa, which perked me up a bit. Skipped exercise. Went into the bathroom for a shower and discovered that I’d taken my morning meds last night, instead of my evening ones. That means that I got a double dose yesterday of things like BP medication, which explains the lethargy this morning. What a moron. Feeling much better now, but my BP must have cratered during the night.

Got our minimal Easter shopping done. The wife has a butter lamb mold that she does, and she makes a killer baba, so looking forward to that.

Amazon free delivery this morning of bacon and eggs, so stocked up for another couple of weeks. I’m also expecting a box of pet-friendly sachets to repel the moths that seem to be infesting the building.

I wonder if they work against box elder bugs. The little red-and-black nuisances are everywhere inside my home this time of year.

They don’t sting or bite, but they must be noxious because Monkey won’t even play with them.

On my bucket list too. I just have to figure out where to get off to visit nellie and flyguy.
