SSL Certificate: Why can't I accept them?

Or even get the prompt for them, as a matter of fact. The scenerio as follows.

IE brower
XP Pro

There’s this website that I get to, it’s actually the school login page, for you to enter your information to give you access to the internet through the school network. Now, they protect this site by SSL, which is obvious because it’s either out of date or something, causing it to give an error message, and ask for a rubber stamp.

Now, one of my friends has a problem with her laptop, where the SSL ruber stamp prompt doesn’t come up. She has an IP address, she can ping the “login page” IP address, but the darn SSL thingee won’t come up. I thought of trying another browser, to see if that worked, but I didn’t have enough time.

I did, however, login using another account on that laptop (both are administrator level accounts), and THAT one let the SSL cert rubber stamp prompt thingee come up. Once. Then it crapped out.

Any ideas?

Do you have any pop-up blockers or other browser add-ons installed? If so, try disabling them and see if the problem persists.

Clear IE’s cache by going to Tools|Internet Options, hitting Delete Files, checking Delete all offline content, and hitting OK.

You could also try adding the URL to the Trusted sites zone on the Security tab. If this works then the settings for the Internet zone are too stringent.
