I’ll admit I don’t get out, and when I do, it’s not to bars. Anyway, I’ve only seen bars with standup tables on tv. Are those a recent thing? If I’m drinking, I don’t want to be standing.
Totally normal at bars that aim to maximize capacity.
Highboy tables are a staple of cocktail parties and are used to get more floor space. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them in bars as well but I guess it depends on what kind of bar and how much space there is.
Sometimes there’ll be a couple of barstool chairs at each table, so you can sit but also people can wander over and stand and not be awkwardly towering over you.
My husband and I actually chose that arrangement for our sweetheart table at our wedding. We parked it near the buffet, so everyone had a chance to stop by. It was our version of a receiving line.
Sure, I see lots of bars with some kind of standup tables. Some will have high stools so you can instead but the table is a good height for standing. Personally I prefer to stand, I get lethargic if I’m drinking sitting down.
Very common, the tables are the same height as the bar itself and you sit on these things . . . what are they called? Oh, barstools.
Been going to bars since my dad took me when I was 3 and recall sitting on a high top table drinking a coke. That was 57 years ago, so not a recent thing.
