Something I loved about these episodes is how they leaned into the weirdness of Star Trek The Animated Series which had gotten everything wrong about the Orions and made it work great here.
The Orions are slavers and racists!
I’m glad to see they got Tendi back on the Cerritos quickly. I wasn’t looking forward to a season without her. And it gave T’Lyn a chance to officially join the Science Nerd half of the Lower Deckers.
Didn’t Tendi decide to stick around Orion until the Blue Orion war situation is resolved?
Resolved.
The war was resolved with the race decision by the Orion Syndicate leader that looks kind of like Nana Visitor.
Darn - I missed the last scene then
Long shot, but you do know that two episodes have been released, right?
Yes. I only saw the first episode. Thanks
I want to say…I don’t watch the show, and I don’t watch SNW. But I’m up to date on characters and concepts and some story arcs for SNW.
However, I did watch Trekculture’s deep dive on the crossover and…mannn…that was perfection. Really really well done. ALMOST got me to watch SNW, but the writing on SNW. I’m sorry fans of the show. I’m glad you like it, but its just too much lowbrow fanwank.
Casting and acting: 10
Production value: 10
Writing: 3
As for watching Lower Decks. I will. Someday. The little I’ve seen is very funny. Just watched a clip called “Mariner and Jennifer enemies to lovers” And i can’t stop laughing how Mariner keeps saying Jennifers name. “Move! JENiffer”
But…as i said earlier that crossover was gold pressed latinum. I would literally call it a top ten episode across the entire history of Trek.
Also I feel a joke was missed in not mentioning Number One and Chapel look nothing alike
How do you know the writing on SNW is bad if you haven’t seen it?
I’ve seen enough to disagree with key directions. Like what they did with the Gorn and missing key concepts in their redoing of Balance of Terror.
My main issue with SNW is that the characters act like teenagers and not adults but otherwise, the writing and acting is not bad.
Lower Decks, on the other hand,is the best Trek since Deep Space Nine and anyone who is a fan of 90s Trek I think would love it. Although in true Trek fashion, the first season takes a few episodes to find its groove. I literally hated Mariner until they fixed her
Also the tone of SNW and by extension DISCO, is all wrong. What happened to The Final Frontier? Both shows should be even more isolated then TOS was. And yet…at least for DISCO…huge fleets were just a moments notice away.
Everyone is wayyyyyy too comfortable with each other and their roles and their ships
But enough of that. This is supposed to be an appy occasion!! yay LD!!
“Why do you even need uniforms? You’re not a military.”
(Off screen from far away) “I’d say they are!”
Mariner: “Shut-up!”
bahahhaha
OK, ship identifiers, what are the new additions to the Borg fight scene in the credits? I recognize the lattice, but what’s the hand from?
Apollo’s Hand
V’ger
Tholians
Thank you @Darren_Garrison and @simster. I need to go back and watch TOS. I don’t think I’ve watched it since I was a a kid and most of it is lost in the mists of memory and YouTube clips.
“The original Kahless who did impressions” was a great joke and deep cut. In the episode The Savage Curtain where Kahless and Surak (the founder of Vulcan logic), or at least facsimiles of them, first appear, Kahless imitates Surak’s voice to lure the good guys into a trap. I laughed for a good 30 seconds there.
