Star Trek XI?

Sulu–DON’T call me tiny!!!
heheheheheh…Sorry.

Well, Riker got to do the fight scene with the ranking Reman (not counting Shinzon here, not biologically Reman). Don’t remember any really big scenes for the others – besides the deleted scene with Troi in the turbolift.

And in Star Trek V, Uhura got to do the fan dance… (yes, an important moment for her character… :::snicker:::slight_smile:

You know, people make fun of the fan dance, but Nichelle Nichols says that she LOVED doing it, because it was so different than anything any of the characters had done before.

And for all its flaws, Star Trek 5 did give each character a good moment of two (“Captain” Checkov, “We’re lost!”, the fan dance, Scotty’s jailbreak). I also thought there was some strange but somehow appropriate chemistry between Scotty and Uhura throughout the flick. Which, of course, the fans hated and thus it went nowhere and wasn’t even mentioned in 6.

In fact the only movie where most of the supporting cast got to do NOTHING out of the classic series was Star Trek 1, where there was this whole new ‘supporting cast’ introduced for the film, in between the key three and the little four. Of course, that movie was an aborted disaster from the get go.

Uhura didn’t get much to do in Star Trek 2, but most of the others had some fun. But in exchange, she did get the most fun part in Star Trek 3.

They just didn’t service the supporters as well in the TNG films, which is too bad, because they did so much better with the supporters on the TV version in TNG than they did with TOS (where Uhura never got a show, nor did Sulu, IIRC). That made the absence of an active Crusher, Laforge or Troi that much more noticeable.

Well, I make fun of the fan dance simply because it wasn’t very good…

I’d say Crusher probably has gotten the biggest shaft in the TNG movies. At least Geordi had the bit in Generations where he got captured and then used to discover Enterprise’s shield modulations. And he got to join Riker in flying with Cochrane in First Contact. I can’t think of any really crucial scenes for her in the TNG movies.

Troi the next biggest shaft. She’s mostly relegated to getting drunk with Cochrane and taking a bubble bath with Riker. Not that I’d mind being in the hot tub with her…

No no no! Getting drunk with Cochrane, taking a bath with Riker and FLYING THE DAMN SHIP INTO THINGS! Big things. Like freaking planets.

Women drivers.

I personally have to wonder at Berman and Braga’s sanity when they put a psych officer at the helm.

I hate to even appear to defend them, but there was an episode where she went through command training. I presume that qualifies one to serve in all bridge functions.

I haven’t seen Nemesis, but didn’t it come out after DS9 wrapped? Maybe Worf could’ve been reassigned to regular duty on the Enterprise.

Except that at the end of DS9 Worf left Starfleet to become the Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire. You don’t get “reassigned” from an ambassadorship to a minor officer’s position on the Enterprise.

He was there for Deanna’s wedding.

If he can quit Starfleet to serve in the Klingon Civil War and join back up when it is over, he can surely keep his officer status as “just” an ambassador as well.

Yes, but they didn’t even give it a “Where have you been, Kenny?” “Oh, over there” explanation.

The movie opened with the wedding ceremony already in progress so even if they asked him (and why would they? They would know what he’s up to… he’s the only Klingon in the fleet… his becoming the Klingon ambassador would be news), it happened before we began viewing.

Still, it would appear that this is what happened. Worf is clearly a crewmember in Nemesis, not just a wedding guest. If he was a non-Starfleet guest, he wouldn’t have been allowed to serve on the bridge, or go on an away mission. And an ambassador would be treated as a VIP, not as some rank-and-file crewmember.

My pet theory is that Worf was such a lousy diplomat that they fired him, and Picard pulled some strings to get Worf an officer’s commision and an assignment on his ship.

Of course, the REAL reason that Worf is back on the Enterprise is that everybody wants him there

I most assuredly do not.

A Worf/Wesley slash pic would be interesting.

Because it would have been good writing.

If by good writing, you mean clumsy exposition, yes.

I don’t like Worf being in the TNG movies. Once he moved to DS9, he should have stayed there but they insist on bringing him back and we have to deal with it but we don’t need to be constantly talked down to about why he is there. His former girlfriend was getting married to one of his good friends on a ship that he served on for seven years. That’s a good enough reason for him to be there and it should be obvious to anyone that is why he’s there.

Get a grip. We are all one big happy fleet.

Yes.

I would have liked to see some conflict between he and Riker.

Do you reckon Dorn has a contract to be in Trek movies? Perhaps that is the case with those who have little parts, too. They have no real role, but the contract is met.
Maybe the reason there are no DS9 or Voyager movies if they’ve contracted to use the NG actors for a certain number of films.
