Owen and Beru Lars have been cast for Ep.II! I am starting to get really excited about II. I have confidence that it will be a hell of a lot better than Ep.I, though I did like it, too. Another thing I’m really excited about is that all the locally cast actors will have Australian accents instead of Brittish ones.
So here’s a thread devoted to the on-going production of Episode II. What have you heard, what are you hoping to see, do you just not care about it… I want to know!
I haven’t heard anything yet but I’m afraid people in here are going to use this thread to rag on the new Star Wars movies and I just wanted your first response to be a somewhat positive, pleasant one! I did hear George Lucas say (at the Mtv Movie Awards) that hopefully Samuel L. Jackson would get a nomination next year for best fight sequence so apparently he is planning a fight between Mace Windu and someone. Or maybe he was just saying that. Who knows!
If there is a certain character young enough, in a US film, they have to cast twins because of child labor laws. I’m not sure about the laws in Australia. But if Robin Gurland is looking for twins, that probably means there will be a very young character in Ep II.
And I’ve heard that Jackson will have a saber fight as well. We do know Vader is going to hunt down and murder most of the Jedi, in II or III, so I’m sure we’ll see many Jedi saber fight scenes, Mace Windu included. This is one aspect of the upcoming film I greatly anticipate.
I just hope they don’t include Threepio. Or Anakin’s mother. Or bad actors. Or reliance on CG. Or any more crap about midichlorians… can we just pretend that never happened? Please? ::sigh::
Episode II is supposed to be more in the vein of Empire Strikes Back with the love story between Anakin and Natalie Portman - soory I forget the character’s name.
Lucas called Mace Windu an emerging character in Episode I and says we will see much more of Samuel L Jackson’s character in the upcoming films.
One question - In the original trilogy Obi Wan Kenobi said Yoda trained him so where did Liam Neeson’s character come from in Episode I?
OK, if you are even remotely interested in this topic, you MUST go to http://www.theforce.net and browse their Episode II section. They’ve got more rumors than you can shake a stick at. Some of the more interesting and substantiated:
Yoda kicks ass in Ep II. We get to see “why he is called the master” - quote from George Lucas hisself. Probably using 2 light sabres.
They are looking for a lot of kindergarten age extras to play Jedi apprentices. Also, they have 40+ speaking roles listed as “Jedi” including lots of women.
C3PO will be back in gold for at least part of the movie.
“If you liked Darth Maul, just wait until you see what we have in store for the next movie” - forget who said it.
And while we’re on these kind of observations, you would have thought somewhere in New Hope, ESB or RotJ that Threepio would have mentioned to Luke “Oh , by the way, your dad built me”
Don’t get me wrong though, I am a die hard SW fan. I loved Ep. I very much. And I had no problem with Jar Jar Binks, I saw nothing racial or demeaning about him. Will he be back?
Well, Threepio at least needs a memory wipe. R2D2, on the other hand, always seemed to me like he knew a lot more than he let on… Maybe he does remember everything in Episodes IV-VI, but just knows enough to keep his piezoelectric buzzer shut.
Yes, the droids will have a memory wipe eventually. And Obi-Wan was trained by Yoda when he was younger. Yoda passed him off to Qui-Gon when he was old enough. Remember the way Yoda was talking to Anikin in the Jedi Temple? He’s good with kids.
This is why I can’t wait for II. Who are Owen and Beru? Why don’t they tell luke about his father? What’s the deal with Bail and Wedge Antilles? Boba Fett? Aurra Sing?
Hey, at least there’s no Jake Lloyd. Give me all they Jar Jar you can throw at me, but No Lloyd!
Bail is a rank, not a name. So Bail Antilles may be Wedge’s Dad. Or Uncle. Or Grandfather.
The Jedi Purge is when Vader slays all the Jedi Knights, and that happens after Episode III but before Episode IV. (The Clone Wars is something separate, and that’s the canvas the next two episodes will be painted against)
I could see how that would make sense. As Obi Wan would have to hide luke somewhere… and that would also explain why Owen was so harsh on Obi-Wan’s lifestyle.
Now we just have to figure out why asome punk white kid’s voice turns itno the buttery smooth James Earl Jones and we’ll be set
