Star Wars is flawed Sci-fi, from a military/war point of view. They are supposed to be far ahead of 2018 earth, but in many ways, they are not.
For example, a modern automatic assault rifle is 10X better than a blaster. They use blasters firing one bolt at a time.
Do you want to take out a large ship or the death star? I guess a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away nuclear weapons were not around.

Baze Malbus’ repeater cannon in Rogue One fired quite a bit more than one bolt at a time.

I’ve always looked at Star Wars as Fantasy with a Sci Fi veneer.
We had a lot of backwards examples from Star Wars in that Bad Scifi Tech thread. It is not a plausible hard science universe, so you just have to live within the lines drawn.
