Star Wars: The Bad Batch on Disney + [Open Spoilers]

The season is now complete. I’m not sure if they plan another.

The overall arc was good. They tied off the major themes and left leads for more stories.

Yes, it was announced a couple of weeks ago.

…and comfortingly familiar to me as well. Its funny to me that to some people it sounds like “she’s faking it” because the first time I heard it, it was unmistakeably Kiwi.

Ang is also fairly well known here, a really solid hard working actor, so its great to see her have more success on the international stage.

Question for those who’ve seen the whole season:

I gave up after the Young Hera episode. If I didn’t like the series up until then, should I give the rest of the season a chance, or is it more of the same? In particular, do they actually do anything with Omega beyond being an annoying kid sidekick/McGuffin?

Yes, actually. They do. The last few episodes give her a lot to do, and she really comes into her own as a character.

All in all, the first season was uneven, but it had a strong ending.

I found it very interesting that they mentioned Omega was present and remembers when the other “Bad Batch” clones were created, and is therefore older than them. I presume the other clones were subjected to artificial aging, but she was not. She may have a deeper background and life experience than we realize, with several more years of education and training than the others. In one sense, the “adult” clones may really be her kid sidekicks.

This technically makes her more accurately a sister to Boba Fett, who had the same non-ageing treatment. Though this is set a few years after we first meet young Boba as a 10 year old in AOTC, and Omega seems like 10- or 12yrs old here, so there is still a considerable gap between their births, maybe as much as five years difference.

Makes me wonder if an adult Omega might show up in a Disney+ live action series.

Yeah, I bet she shows up in Book of Boba Fett.

The first two episodes for Season Two are out. They’re very introductory, obviously building up this season’s plot line.

Anyone else watch?

I watched the first two Season two episodes and liked them but kind of forgot a lot of last season. Eventually will have to rewatch from the beginning.

Third episode - which deals with Crosshairs - is very good. I had always wondered what happened to Commander Cody.

This is a show with kids as a prime demographic.

More serious and dark, not quite Andor level, but definitely more complicated in its theme than I was expecting it to go. Not the Easter Egg laden mostly fairly cute of S 1. I liked but am eyebrow raised.

I caught up last night (so haven’t seen today’s episode). They have a nice groove going; it feels like Clone Wars. Each episode has a narrow focus on a situation and a few characters.

Interesting that episode 7 “The Clone Conspiracy” didn’t feature the Bad Batch (and other than Crosshair who I presume was the sniper) didn’t have any of them.

I have seen complaints online that the show is not following the core characters but I am happy because I always thought they were kind of boring but really like and want to see more of the Post Episode III/Rise of the Empire era so I really enjoyed this story.

They have taken asides from the main characters before …. Remember Hera Syndulla’s origin ep? It’s not like they are doing a Boba Fett.

Bumping the thread just because damn this show is good.

Yeah I just caught up and the last two were really good.

Goddamn Saw Gerrera.

The writers definitely want us to think Tech is dead, but they didn’t show us a body. Broken glasses isn’t proof of death. Also, this is a kids show. So I think there’s about a 99% chance Tech is alive and will be revealed at a key point next season (perhaps in the same facility Omega is in, and he and Crosshair will help her escape).
