They were getting blown to pieces. Young kept firing Destiny’s primary weapon into their ship, and it was on the verge of coming apart. They got while the gettin’ was good.
Ah, I didn’t realize it was being so effective. I just got that they our guys about to blow themselves up and their shields were failing and all that…
The stones have always been kinda wonky. The first time they were used they sent Daniel and Vala to some random couple in the Ori galaxy, but back at SG Command they were all comatose and dying, not body swapped like happens with SGU’s set of stones.
And I call her Lt. Boobs, but if she ever gets promoted two ranks, she’s totally Major Knockers.
Hrm. I thought they weren’t going to do humanoid aliens in this series. Especially since the first aliens they had were those water-filching bug cloud critters. I reckon that they had to go the humanoid route so that they would be able to do the body swap thing. That’s the only reason I could think of that they had to make full-CGI aliens humanoid.
Oh, well. At least they’re potentially interesting. They’re frail enough that Rush was able to throttle one to death fairly easily, and Rush doesn’t seem very strong for a human. Maybe they’ll consider humans to be (compared to them) hulking brute type aliens. I know a few books have gone that route, but I don’t think any TV shows have. Maybe they’ll be more of a threat on the ground where everyone’s fighting with guns.
I guess I should not have been surprised to see that the totally anatomically differnt aliens breathed air usable by humans. At first I thought that was why they were in those deprivation tanks, but I guess not.
I thought it odd that Young didn’t think of that before busting Rush out of his water tank. The atmosphere might have been totally toxic to him.
On the other hand, maybe Young was hoping that the air was toxic. In any event, Rush was the handiest way to test. Better to use Rush than Hot Chloe.
[TV trope]He’s a skinny geek and should be a weakling, but he’s also crazy, and everyone knows that insane people are unnaturally strong. Therefore Rush is much stronger than he looks and can easily kill aliens with his bare hands no matter how tough they are.[/TV trope]
Remind me, which trope is that?
I thought Rush would be away for a couple eps and have an interesting story to tell about how he got back. This was a bit too easy.
It was nice the humans weren’t technologically outclassed/gunned by the first aliens they met. Destiny has to be pretty tough to have made it as far as she has. I wonder what she normally does to prevent aliens from just cutting a hole into her? It looked pretty easy. Could Chloe be more clueless? Aliens are attacking your ship, slicing a hole through the hull and you go up and look? “Hi, take me! I’m stupid! Once you brain probe me you’ll think all humans are morons and underestimate them!”
