Stargate Universe: "Incursion" SEASON FINALE (open spoilers)

The first part of the season finale is on tonight.

Wow. First to respond and vote. Loved it because it. did. not. screw. around. Edge of the seat from start to “end”.

I am verrrrry curious as to whether any Lucians will survive to join the crew. Personally, I wouldn’t mind it if Commander SkinTightLeatherUniform came away from the Dark Side. Maybe Eli finally gets a love interest?

Eh, Probably not. :frowning:

I liked it too. And at least they addressed the “let the air out and suffocate them” thing that so very many other shows ignore. Still I would’ve prefered it they just created a vacuum in the gateroom (& surrounding corridors) in the beginning; only to find the Lucians were smart enought to wear spacesuits. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I would love for Rhona Mitra to stick around. Probably won’t happen, though.

I liked the episode overall. Lots of action and a bit of a mystery–what the heck happened to that one guy that burned to ash when exposed to those rays of light? Are the Lucian Alliance actually… SPACE VAMPIRES!!! Ok, probably not.

Eli basically is living out an uber-geek-fantasy right now. Alone with the girl of his dreams, trapped in a desperate situation. She is wounded and helpless and must depend on him to be her protector. He must be strong and smart and valiant. He must literally take her in his arms and carry her to safety.

Interesting twist with Colonel Telford, but awful convenient, too. Just like that and he’s a good guy? Not responsible for all the assholish behavior of the past season? Feels like a cheat.

Young was an idiot for not venting the air in the gate room as soon as the raiders arrived. He could have at least done it long enough to disorient them to give his own troops the upper hand, and then taken the room by force.

Rush comments that Destiny hasn’t started a countdown for the next jump to hyperspace. What could this mean? I hope next week doesn’t leave us on a cliffhanger. They are probably going to set the stage for season 2 in some way, but I hope there is a resolution to the current crisis.

Great episode, Very tight.

TJ is very pregnant, so some time has passed. But, have they made it to the next galaxy yet? I can’t remember.

It would seem Destiny is not pleased with the current situation. Let’s not forget Ice Boy disappeared, but where? Merged with the ship’s AI somehow? The guy who got burned to a crisp, is there some particularly nasty radiation in intergalactic space? Did the ship alter it’s force fields to allow a high dose of radiation to hit the guy? It looked like his burning up had something to do with the containment field flickering.

Can’t wait for part II.

ETA: forgot to say: Carter!!! Yay!

And when they get back to safety, she’ll rush into the arms of Lt. Douchebag. Enjoy it while it lasts, Eli.

Part two is next week, right?

<rant>I hate this notion of a finale being more than one week. If there’s a new episode on next week, then this week’s ep is not a finale, even if it’s a two parter!</end rant>

Good ep, though. Lots of cool stuff finally happening on this show, after a very slow first half season. Too bad they couldn’t sneak in a Teal’c cameo this ep, with the other three SG1 originals getting a little screen time.

Given the lack of interest in SGU threads I thought it’d make more sense to have a single thread for both parts of the finale.

I’m interested!

I don’t think he’s complaining about your thread being combined, he’s complaining about the concept of a two-part finale as put forth by Television Powers That Be.

I liked the episode, although I am not liking how conveniently some of their problems have been solved. I’d kind of like to see them get screwed over for once. Especially Chloe.

Young should have just vented the atmosphere, then run in and saved Telford like he did just a short while ago. I guess that would make poor TV though.

I wonder what is going to happen to the chain of command when they beat the alliance? I may be wrong, but I thought Telford was higher ranking than Young. Wouldn’t that make him in charge of the ship?

Good point, I keep forgetting he’s physically there now, not just swapped in. I think SGC already sorted out who’s in charge though, back around the time Young punched him out.

Exactly. If a show needs a single thread for multiple eps, I’m cool with that.

They’re both colonels. But now that Telford is on the ship, he’s probably going to be killed off. I can’t see Lou Diamond Phillips becoming a full-time cast member since he’s only been in about 1/3 of the eps this season.

I doubt both of them will come out of the finale alive. I’m just not sure which will stick around.

Was an enjoyable episode. I wonder if next week will be a conclusion or just a part two of three with a summer spanning cliffhanger. After all, Rhona Mitra got her own summer series.

I liked a lot of the stuff, especially Eli in random part of ship. I suspect he will find something vital to the cause in a far off portion of the ship.

Intrigued by the mystery of the fluctuating power and super death rays penetrating the hole sin the shield. What kind of radiation could cause that kind of disintegration? Wondering if the chair guy being absorbed into the ship is a factor.

OTOH

  1. Should not have waited to undo the communication stones. Why anyway??

  2. Should have lowered the oxygen levels in the gateroom just enough to cause unconsciousness but not death. Duh!

  3. How many kinos and repair robots do they have? Remote control army!

  4. WTF does the Lucian Alliance want with this ship anyway? It’s in a galaxy far far far far far away that has less than .0001% chance of ever being a boon for the greater Lucian alliance in our galaxy. There’s a slim chance the occupants might gate home, but basically no chance that the ship itself will ever get back within anyone’s lifetimes even if they crack the code to turn it around. If they are just in it for the wonder of science like Rush, well then, why bother with the weaponry?

I think I missed something. Why did the Lucian Alliance people have Earth weapons? I thought they would’ve carried more Go’uld tech.

You didn’t miss anything, that’s not been explained.

Crud. Way to crush a guy’s hopes. And I bet her wardrobe on the new show is not SkinTightLeather.
