I wonder how long they’ll string the Eli, Chloe, Scott thing along.
Well, there’s something mighty suspicious about the way they gated back, so I think we’ll be hearing about that again.
Lt. Boobs is getting lots more acting in. She might need a new nickname.
Pretty good episode comparatively speaking. The musical montage of life onboard Destiny seemed a little out of place. But hey, they have a bar now.
It seemed suspicious to me at first, but now I think it just smacks of deus ex machina. The alien saboteur who bodyswapped with Lt. Boobs conveniently sabotaged the engine while Destiny was still within gate range of our strandees. I wonder if I’m the first person to ever compose that exact sentence.
I’m interested to see how Rush’s experience in the Chair has affected him. After the episode two weeks ago, I wondered if Rush was “doing it wrong”. Rush seemed to think that he could pick a memory to overwrite, and just do his own thing while his memory replayed itself. He said something along the lines of the data coming faster when he’s around his ailing wife, so I wonder if throwing himself headlong into reliving his memory would have expedited the process.
After seeing this episode, though, I would speculate that the Chair might not strictly overwrite the chosen memory, but weave new knowledge into the chosen memory. That would mean that rather than excise the painful memory, he may have inadvertently intertwined it with the new knowledge the chair gave him. If he needs to use that new knowledge regularly, that could keep his grief fresh perpetually. What an awful thought. I hope I’m wrong about this.
I dunno. It is not like they’ve never done a musical montage before.
Personally I loved it. One of my favourites. I wonder if any of the aliens that were trying to board jumped with them, leaving them stranded and hence able to be captured.
It sure looked like they exploded…just like they said the shuttle would’ve if not fastened down during “Divided”.
I agree the musical montage was a little strange.
Instead of having that weird entrance for Chloe, Eli, and Scott, they should have just let them gate back in the episode before. This seemed like a pretty lame way to end that storyline.
I wonder what happened to Franklin? Did he ascend? Is he hiding somewhere in the ship? Did the chair eat him? Maybe next episode, Young will yell out “Rush, I shrunk the Franklin!”
I agree, but I guess they needed to come up with a reason for Destiny to drop out of FTL first. I don’t like it because the alien ship planet was established to be out of range of Destiny’s gate. If Destiny reappeared on their iPad thingie, they still had to gate via multiple planets to get close enough. Later, they established a gate connection directly to the alien ship planet from Destiny, meaning something was powering a more long-distance gate connection. Whatever could do that, should be of paramount importance.
I thought he turned to ice, but couldn’t tell for sure.
The trio hadn’t left the planet they were on when they got the busy signal due to Rush’s wormhole. Destiny dropped out of FTL during their second night on that planet, got a connection, and went aboard. Later, another connection was established to that same planet with the object of resource gathering but the aliens were there, having tracked the trio from the crashed ship.
He was turning to ice when they left him alone to freeze. But when they went back into the room, he was just gone.
I’m gonna vote “ascended”, too.
The reappearance of the Three Dolts was even more anticlimatic than an anticlimax, since it happened in the middle of some other stuff, was of no particular significance, and basically served no dramatic purpose other than to suck the energy out of the current storyline.
Guess that proves the only real risk is to the important-people-never-seen-before types, and the minor recurring characters. Watch out, Lt. Boobs!
Ah, so the aliens were on that closest-to-Destiny planet, and not the further away alien ship planet? That makes sense then.
I liked the little details about how the physicist reacted to being in a fully functioning body. Especially the way she kept holding her hands out in front of her. I do wonder why do they seem to be going out of the way to ensure that both people using the stones are the same gender?
Err, I’d like to be in the experiment where they don’t.
I am liking the show more and more as time goes on. Not because of any of the strict “sci-fi” space travel elements, but for how the writers use that our characters are stuck in space to tell their thoughts on the human condition. Love. Loss. Sacrifice. Regret. Anger. Memories. Lust. Power. Maternity. Ambition. Envy.
Greer’s memory of telling his mother that they needed to leave, just get out of there. And her response that she was staying, that she loved her husband; that he hadn’t always been like that. It Resonates, to me.
And this week; when your loved one returns to you, but is fairly severely (and suddenly) handicapped. How do you cope? How do they cope? And the now handicapped one, torn by the aspects of love…wanting you to get out and enjoy yourself a bit; but that same love can create fear of loss if the person is late coming home.
As far as the psyche swap stones, so far being used only for same gender; I think that is a practical matter. Consider if such a thing were possible IRL. You had better believe they’d try to keep same gender for the swaps. It would create needless adjustment times away from the issues at hand. And easily could have a certain creepiness to it. Something as mundane as restroom and gym/locker rooms become an issue. You could forget that you are not you and walk into the wrong place. See people’s naughty bits that you were not supposed to see. However, if the writers get bored later, I am sure they could mine the cross-gender swap implications for at least one full episode.
And lastly; it is not Lt. Boobs. The name of the character is Lt. James. She has her issues with how to be a modern day soldier and yet retain femininity. Her character is a vital and pivotal part of the story line. And we need to see more of her on the screen.

I keep daydreaming new uses for the stones. Imagine a couple swapping bodies to spice up their sex life. Or criminals sentenced to provide the use of their able bodies to people like our physicist friend, all the while enduring life in a severely crippled body (brings “cruel and unusual punishment” to a whole new level). Would rich people hire surrogates to endure painful recovery from surgery for them?
Or a competition along the lines of The Biggest Loser (well, what I imagine that show to be like), except the contestants are fitness gurus body-swapped with really out-of-shape people. Will the fitness gurus be humbled when their “sure-fire” weight loss systems don’t translate to people with different body chemistry, or will the “body donors” be forced to admit that no, they didn’t have a glandular problem after all?
There’s a strange music montage almost every week!

That scene with Patrick Swayze in Whoopi’s body might have something to do with it.
On SG1 Vala used the stones to swap bodies with Daniel once, so it’s not unheard of.
That was pretty funny, too.
