Just to update my theory about the Gambler’s killer: I don’t think it was Cindy. The official story is that the Gambler was killed by a “freak tornado”? One of the members of Helix was called, I think, Arak Wind Walker or something like that. He could control the wind. And he had a pet wolf. That could have made the growling sound, maybe, instead of Kritter, like I said last week. I still think Kritter was doing the spying/hacking.
If this were a good, well-written murder mystery, as what I’m hoping this season turns out to be, then the killer will be someone who has already been introduced. The title of this episode is “The Suspects”, so it should be someone we’ve seen in this very episode. It is likely none of the suspects already mooted, so not the Shade, nor the Crocks, nor even Cindy Burman. My guess at this point: Sylvester Pemberton, Starman himself, who we’ve seen still has some unresolved issues with what’s left of the JSA.
FINDING BALANCE - Courtney and the JSA receive an anonymous tip that could help in their murder investigation. Meanwhile, after being told to find balance, Sylvester looks into potential jobs in Blue Valley, while also trying to figure out who he is without his Starman identity.
What’s this, Courtney urging caution? Also, Cindy is accepted at the lunchtime meeting. We’re making progress…maybe. What is Cindy’s motivation in trying to get rid of the Crocks? I don’t buy her explanation of trying to prove herself to the JSA.
Did they just kill Starman again? I guess we know it’s not Cindy this time. Or Sylvester for that matter. I’ll be severely disappointed if writers just make up a killer out of whole cloth.
Do the Crock parents think that Artemis killed the Gambler?
Cindy confuses me - half the time I think she’s playing the JSA for some reason, and half the time I think she’s actually trying to be good but isn’t very good at it. She’s probably confused too
My weekly theory about the Gambler’s murder: Okay, the sound when Starman was attacked (killed?), presumably by whoever/whatever killed the Gambler sounded more like a roar than a growl or any sound a canine would make. That makes me wonder if maybe Icicle’s parents are some kind of Arctic snow monsters/Arctic weather monsters, and they killed the Gambler because they’re angry he’s alive and their son isn’t and/or he was blackmailing them too. Starman, being JSA, they killed to avenge their son even though Pemberton didn’t kill him. I still think Kritter from Helix was the one spying on everyone.
If Pemberton is dead, the JSA will care about that far more than the Gambler. At least Tigess will have an alibi, if the manager isn’t too terrified to give a plausible one. Could Sportsmaster kill a staff-less Starman? (I mean, we know he didn’t do it, but will the JSA?)
True, and not quite as talky. Of course, they are relying more and more on martial arts that super powers (except the star staff) but all these shows doing it.
Legends of Tomorrow started with some real superheroes, but is now mostly a costume drama with martial arts.
Still a villain, but would not want the world destroyed. I think a number of those get into that category. “Ethically challenged” but no desire for World destruction or domination.
BACK TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME - After one of Sylvester’s plans results in an unexpected outcome, Pat calls upon an old friend for help. Meanwhile, Beth uncovers a new suspect in their murder investigation, and Courtney reaches out to Cameron.
I thought this episode was going to be about the JSA piecing together the clues or, at least, gathering more evidence (as the title). I didn’t think that there would be just one piece of evidence, a single skin cell apparently from the Dragon King no less.
It’s looking like Cindy left that skin cell behind. She’s been injecting some concoction apparently made by the Dragon King that’s turning her into some sort of lizard creature, so she could well be shedding cells like the Dragon King. That doesn’t necessarily mean she attacked Sylvester or killed the Gambler.
I don’t think anyone has said this yet — thank you, Terminus, for the announcement frames you post before starting the discussion of each new episode. More than once they’ve helped me avoid spoilers at a time when I hadn’t realized there was an unwatched episode on the DVR. Also, the large video images look cool.
Now that they’ve shown at least the sleeve of the person spying on everyone, it’s not apparently Kritter, as I’d thought. The CGI of a dog-person might have been too much trouble. I still think it’s someone in Helix, probably Mr. Bones.
As far as Cindy is concerned… My husband thinks, and I agree, that she was turning into a dragon before this season, and she’s trying to find a cure. This is why she wants to join the JSA.
Yolanda’s father has lost his job–wonder if he’ll wind up working for/with one of the ex-ISA members, or maybe Helix.
You’re welcome! I like to keep things nice and tidy. While I don’t particularly mind spoilers, I find it annoying in other show threads that I’m never quite sure which episode is currently being discussed.
I think you’re right. I got that reversed. But why does Cindy have the Gambler’s laptop?
The Gambler had lots of information about everyone and everything, IIRC. My guess is she’s hoping that includes data about her problem.
BTW, shouldn’t the Gambler have rigged it so that the computer would lock someone out if that person took too many guesses? I’m also guessing that it will turn out that the password is guessable–it’s not going to be a bunch of random letters, numbers, punctuation, etc. Which would be terrible and annoy me so much.
I also think the password is somehow in the letter he wrote to his daughter, in a way that she would recognize but no one else would.
That I agree with - mostly; I think the cell is from Cindy’s body but that Cindy is losing time and doing things that she doesn’t want to do or remember doing because of the meddling of her father (who is still alive and watching). From Cindy’s point of view, she doesn’t remember going to see the Gambler or killing him. She just found his laptop at home after a strange gap in memory (and is trying to use the laptop to find out stuff).
