Invasion Iowa (2005), William Shatner’s 4-part reality miniseries, had him filming a phony sci fi epic in Capt. Kirk’s future hometown of Riverside (pop. <1,000).

Apple’s Way (1974-75), an ultra-sappy family show, had Ronny Cox moving his brood from LA back to his fictional hometown of Appleton. Even Iowa viewers in 1974 thought this one creaked like a condemned covered bridge.
