Still no 4/11 Gilmore Girls thread?

Well… that was an episode…

I’m pretty disappointed. This was a Palladino written episode (Daniel not Amy Sherman-) and usually they can be counted on to write classic GmoreG style.

This episode was just weird. Really nyuk nyuk jokey which doesn’t fit the show. Lorelai, Richard and Emily apparently reverted to their season 1 personas. Richard and Emily staring wide eyed and mouths agape believing their daughter as Lorelai spews a string of obvious lies about the town. A town that atleast Emily has spent some time in. Yes often her parents don’t understand Lorelai but never would they be looking at elephant and believe Lorelai when she says its a tiger.

The only worthwile scenes were Emily and the little girl who she thought was April playing cards… although why they chose to actually have the little girl look somewhat like April is lost on me since it didn’t add anything. Emily’s never seen April.
The other good scene was Lane accosting Lorelai about the dress.

Otherwise this was a pretty shitty episode.

I’m losing faith in my favorite show. Seriously. Lorelai’s still not acting like herself (and sorry, I don’t buy the whole thing about her trying to be kind to Luke’s feelings - Lorelai’s not, and never has been, a doormat, which is exactly what she’s being.)

Rory has just pissed me off constantly this entire season. She needs to grow up.

There’s talk that the Palladinos aren’t returning for the seventh season, if the show’s renewed. Honestly, if next season is like this season, I’m not sure I’ll be too upset if it doesn’t come back.

What bugs me is that there were a lot of moments of comic relief in there - but absolutely very little story development or character development. This show used to advance tiny bits of story in every SCENE. They’re not doing that any longer - it’s like they’re at a standstill and they don’t know where to go.

The only thing I’m holding out hope for is that the last scene with Lorelai throwing coffee on Mrs. Kim’s dress is some sort of symbolism and indicative of some changes.

If Mrs. Kim is really Korean, wouldn’t she have worn traditional Korean wedding wear when she got married? But I’m glad that Lorelai decided to help Lane out and mess up that hideous thing. Lane deserves a rock n’ roll wedding dress

Lorelai and Rory are starting to really annoy me. They aren’t normally like this, so why start now? They need to revert to their aggressive Gilmoreness and give their men an earful!

From the promos for next week, it looks like the wedding dress turns out pretty conservative anyway, but not nearly as offensive as this one. It’s tue that that hideaous maternity thing looked nothing like a traditional Korean wedding dress, a pictue of which can be seen here. I think there’s also usually a headdress like this one. I’ve seen pictures in which the bride looks less like Mickey Mouse, though

Jess really has gotten all healthy and expressive of his feelings. It’s a little odd, but he’s still sufficiently snarky that he’s believable as Jess.

Luke was really weird about introducing Rory to April. At least he remembered to refer to Lorelai as “my fiance” to April. I was a little concerned when, earlier in the episode, he asked Caesar whether he could say goodbye to his girlfriend, though that didn’t seem to send up any red flags for Lorelai.

Yes, both Gilmores need to have serious conversations with their respective guys, though I don’t think that Lorelai is being as bad as Rory. Both are important conversations to be had, and Lorelai’s may very well be more vital in the long run, but Logan’s is the worse offense, and Luke has a bit more of an excuse for his.

At least Rory has admitted out loud that she still loves Logan and needs to deal with the issues, and Logan has brought into the open the fact that there are still problems. Lorelai still hasn’t admitted that there’s a problem and hasn’t mentioned any misgivings since she and Luke had that “I still want to marry you” talk at Logan’s summer house. I suppose that Emily telling her that their “mutual” arrangement was ridiculous might qualify as something of an awakening. I think that both problems will be addressed pretty directly next week.

I agree, it was a substandard episode. But everyone is with who they’re supposed to be with (except Zack and Lane-- I’m still not sure about that), so I just wish they’d work it out already.

No, if you take that dress, make it white, add some lace, and then make it as conservative as possible (V-neck? Nope, cover that inch of neck up. And make sure that no hint of form shows through) you have Mrs. Kim’s dress.

OK I love this show and I’m a guy. Good, now that that’s over with, I was happy with Emily’s telling off off Lorelai. It’s what I’ve been yelling at the tv set for months and it needed to be said. Luke and Lorelai need to grow the F up and deal with April in a responsible manner.

I could see Rory and April getting closer, the snippet of commiseration at Luke’s event seemed to work and it would help Lorelai I think.

Agreed that Lorelai is not acting like herself and I don’t think it’s pre wedding jitters, it’s just totally out of character.

Anyone think that the trip of Logans’ will end badly? Just a weird vibe I got.

I agree that Emily is right; but I’m not sure Lorelai will take her mother’s advice, due to their history (in Lorelai’s mind, Emily’s meddling =bad).

Rory and April did seem to hit it off, but April and Jess’s lack of curiosity about each other seemed odd.

And I got the same eerie vibe about the Life and Death Brigade’s next stunt.

That didn’t really bother me - Jess and April are like Luke, who seems to have little curiousity about much. In terms of genes, it fits.

I do like April a lot, but I don’t like what bringing her on is doing to the show.
