Still not out on DVD

I would like to see the Christmas TV special “A Wish For Wings That Work” released on DVD. Since “Opus” is now a weekly comic strip, the timing would be good.

WKRP in Cincinatti.

The originals would be nice, before they were forced to use generic filler music in place of the real stuff and posters of rock & roll bands were digitally removed from view.

But even the edited versions would be OK since it was the characters and writing that made the show work. Though I would miss scenes like the one where Mr. Carlson walks into the booth to find a seemingly comatose Johnny Fever zoning out to Pink Floyd’s Dogs. “Do I hear dogs barking?” "I do…"

It seems that the TV show WKRP succumbed to the soulless corporate mentality that the show tried so very hard to ridicule. RIP, KRP…

EZ

You know, come to think of it, I’ve been looking at those ‘selected episodes’ of The Muppet Show every time I’m in the store, hoping to find either the Edgar Bergen or Candice Bergen episode. Ideally, I’d like both. Is there a timeline anywhere that says when/if these are coming out?

They’ve been mentioned but I’ll just second Max Headroom and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr..

Personally, I’d love to be able to get American Gothic on DVD.

And I’ll add my vote for WKRP, too, though I really want the original music and posters.

Happy, happy, joy, joy! The first two seaons of Ren & Stimpy, uncut, are available on DVD!!!

Pinky & the Brain!!!

YES! It’d be nice to have an excellent, crisp clear copy of “Eraserhead” and not have to pay $60 for it (or however high Lynch has it priced on his site).

Region 0 copy on eBay

I second Yellowbeard. Unfortunately, I’ve read (but don’t remember where) that the rights to the film are currently disputed and a convoluted mess, and its keeping a DVD from being released.

I’d also like to see a US release of Erik the Viking. Yes, I have a region-free DVD player with NTSC<>PAL conversion built in, but still…

And while I’m at it, I wish that Viacom had released the Invader Zim DVDs in their original and uncut versions instead of the edited ones. :frowning:

Threads. Yeah, I know it’s on Region 2, but I don’t have a multi-region player.

Inspired by this thread, here are some more small films from the 80s that I’d like to see on DVD:[ul][li]Dead Ringers - David Cronenberg directs Jeremy Irons. Very creepy (as you might expect with those two involved). One of the worst possible (non-porn) films to see on a first date. But $50 and up for a used copy? No thanks.[/li][li]The Quiet Earth - An NZ science fiction film with some flaws, but I’ll watch almost anything with Bruno Lawrence in it. [/li]Urgh! A Music War - Remember back when Danny Elfman actually played in a band instead of just scoring films? Well, even if you don’t, there are early performances by The Police, UB 40, and Echo and the Bunnymen that are worth seeing. [/ul]

It’s available in R2, but it appears to be average quality picture-wise.

I recently ripped my laserdisc copy to DVD.

I would pay good money to see Flying Blind on DVD… Tea Leoni in leather miniskirts… yummy…

I own copies of Delicatessen and Lost Highway.
Sometimes it is good to be a European.

I want to throw my 2 cents in for Twin Peaks : the second season.

The Scrooge McDuck thread reminded me – DuckTales!

You know, it’s fairly easy to make at least your PC’s DVD player region free. There’s this program which looks like it can do the job. There’s also a very simple registry hack for Win2K and XP. Search around on the web, you’ll find it.
