I’m 18, athletic, slim. YET whenever I eat I get a really big stomach bulge and it’s really annoying. Is there any reason for this? I heard it might be a yeast thing but I hardly eat bread. Also, what can I do to counteract this? I tried 40 situps a day for a year but nothing has changed, everytime I eat, I grow about 3 inches around my belly button area.
First off, I’m not a doctor, and you probably ought to go see one before/instead of taking my advice.
You may be getting gas bloating, either from gassy foods fermenting or air you swallow when you eat. There are several things you can try. Pills like Phasyme or Gas-X help some folks. Beano helps some folks by messing with the fermentation process. Are you getting heartburn (reflux?) That’s when your stomach squirts semi-digested glop up into your esophagus. The acid hurts up there, and may even come up into your throat, affecting your voice. Common remedies for that are Prilosec, Zantac, and Tagamet. These are daily pills that train your stomach to make less acid, and they take a few days to start working.
Any of these things, if they work for you, may not work all the time. You may need to change your eating habits, and your doctor can tell you about that.
