Is there no pit thread about this? Maybe I missed it…

I feel sick. I watched the clips on CNN. It goes beyond my distaste and rejection of religion. I am sickend by humanity. It just doesn’t process in my mind, imagining myself as part of such a community, even if I don’t throw a stone, or release a kick, I just don’t know how a human can stand by and be ok with such an event.

For those of us, even those who are trying to be open minded of other faiths or even atheist, standing up preaching tolerance and respect of other religions and culture - it is all bullshit.

There can be no respect, there can be no understanding, not when there are people like this in the world - cultures, community, societies like this in the world.

Some just don’t deserve the respect. Yes, I am just downright better than other people, more advanced, more intelligent, more enlightened. There are indeed people out there that should live in the dirt and be considered animals - ney, worse than lower animals.

The enlightened, advanced Western civilization - what is their responsibility? Should we just ignore and accept these people are trash, or is our job to go and try to change the world, accepting the death and destruction that would be the inevitable result?

I feel sick. I am ashamed to be the same species as these creatures.

Tough questions indeed. I too was sickened by the reports. I found it most disturbing that POLICE WERE STANDING BY! I was a policeman and waded into a few brawls I should not have, praying back up arrived soon. It did. These alledged Iraqi policemen did nothing. Makes me sick. I hate to say it, but sometimes I think maybe these people should should just be allowed to kill each other and the world will be a better place. I know that is totally wrong thinking in most ways. but damn, try to defend police standing by and watching a murder as a viable system.

CNN seems to have the most comprehensive story for once. It’s really fucking bad. I’ve been angry about it all day. I’m angry about it for personal reasons, even. But I don’t blame any “these people” because I’ve seen the face of human evil and it has no race or nation or even faith.

Yazidism is not only entirely endogamous, but apparently very purity-obsessed. Not such a shock then, especially as Kurdistan generally seems to be one of those geographic/cultural areas particularly prone to such nonsense ( “honor killings” that is ).

Bullshit. You’re half-right at best. While all humans have the capability for great evil, not all humans live within the same culture. Some cultures lend themselves to this sort of thing moreso than others. Just because all of humanity is capable of it, or has partaken of it in the past, is no excuse for anyone to continue tolerating it today in the name of some sort of cultural/moral relativism.

I like the fucked up idea of Justice these people have. “You kill one of ours, we kill twelve of yours.” Of course, every one of those twelve have family who say, “You kill one of ours, we kill twelve of yours.”

AFAIK the surprising thing is that regarding honor killings, it is likely that the other family would say “well done!” :frowning: There is a reason why the protests are coming mostly from the outside.

And no, my experience has been that groups that are leftist, and others typically accused of being leftists, are the ones that have been protesting for the longest time against that, claiming that those killings are being tolerated is a slander.

b) An immediate relation to race
