I walk past the same area every morning. Next door, there is a McDonald’s. Two doors down from that, a Sheetz. In between is a car lube shop with Bible qoutes on the clearly visible sign. Which would be fine, had they not chosen this one:
***“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” *** In between a McDonald’s and a Sheetz.
Any weird or unfortunate sign positioning you’ve seen lately?
On Highway 6 just south of the crossroads hamlet of Ferndale, there is a sign:
<- Spry Rd.
Cemetery Rd. ->
(Dare I ask what a “Sheetz” is?)
Convenience store extraordinaire. They also make made-to-order snadwiches and stuff.
In or near Buffalo, NY I once say a sign for “Paine Street” and just below it was a sign indicating the proper directions to a hospital.
My favorite, though, is that in a city government building in Downtown NYC, the door for the men’s room has the following signs:
MEN’S ROOM
FIRE HOSE INSIDE
Like, thanks for the anatomy lesson, guys.
In Orlando, there is an equipment-rental place with a sign advertising the sale of a certain variety of cooking gas. It’s right next to a church.
I call it the Sacred and the Propane ::::d+r::::
Way up Route 17 in Ramsey, there used to be two stores right next to each other–Dyke’s Lumber and Skinner’s Nuts. Skinner’s has since moved, but it still cracks me up every time I think about it. I’m so juvenile. sigh
Many years ago, I went past a dog obedience training outfit. About 100 yards down the road was a hot dog stand. Perhaps that where the school dropouts wound up?
There is none better than this.
It’s only in Pennsylvania and (I think) Maryland. I saw it featured once in one of those “convenience store owners” magazines. If I remember the article correctly, it is not franchised.
Two ads used to share a billboard on a highway in the next county over. The one on the left was (I think) a public service message about resources for dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. The one on the right was for a bank, stressing their friendly, personal service. Each had a line of really big print above some much smaller details. Combined, the big print seemed to make an odd lead-in:
Pregnant? | Feel human again.
