Strangely attracted to His4Ever

Do me a big favor and don’t link me.

I always pictured her as resembling Daisy Mae Yokum, which is a daydream I don’t want debunked.

I have no clue who Daisy Mae Yokum is and I intentionally didn’t look her up prior to posting this.

JuanitaTech, off to google “Daisy Mae Yokum”

His4Ever, you’re in this forum, and you actually used a smiley. That’s all I was asking. Welcome to the party! :hands His4Ever a glass of sparkling white grapejuice:

I was very pleasently surprised when I opened this thread and saw what it was all about.

My stomach always does a little lurch when I see a thread in the bbq pit flaming someone. I can only imagine how much that hurts. That beng said though, I also think that sometimes people don’t realise that there is a nicer way to express his or her own opinions.

Have a good one, His4Ever.

CRorex, I haven’t, but have you ever seen someone with religious views like those of H4e in a bar at all?

cuauhtemoc, pretty interesting there. I think with me part of it is the childlike innocence, but another part here is that I’m close to being a fundamentalist (in the fundie sense of the term, not so much the religious views sense) and worry that God will not like it if I do not find those who are devoted to God attractive. I wish I could just say it was the childlike innocence and devotion (which I do love), but part of it is my fundie side. Alas, for innocence and devotion I do still melt.

sends H4e a  smiley face

On an entirely peripheral note, this thread reminded me of a computer game I used to play: Alpha Centauri.

This game was written by the same guys who made the Civilization line. The basic premise was to build up your society while competing with others, etc etc. I preferred to play the technological faction because of certain advantages. One of the the other factions was the fundamentalist “Lord’s Believers”.

If you clobbered a faction sufficiently, i.e. reduced them to only two or three outposts, their leader would often give you a standard “I surrender totally” speech. I quickly got into the habit of targetting the Believers just so I could see their leader, Miriam Godwinson, give that speech. She isn’t the most attractive of the female leaders, but there was something irresistable about spending a few minutes thinking about locking her up in my techno-dungeon and subjecting her to all kinds of things God never intended.

Well, ahem, enough about me. Carry on.

Actually I have been in a bar. Just last weekend we went to visit a relative of my husband’s and she wanted to go eat at this bar that was supposed to have good catfish. And a lot of restaurants have bars also. Granted I don’t feel comfortable in bars, but I don’t drink. If it wasn’t for being married and not wanting to fuss with him over every little thing (we fuss enough) I doubt I’d go to one unless for some good reason. The drinking lifestyle isn’t for me, I know the Lord wouldn’t want it. Besides I take medication and cant’ anyway even if I wanted to which I don’t. Have a great day.

You see, the thing is, we don’t want you to change your beliefs, particularly, just to examine them in the light of (a) facts and (b) how they impact other people. (Relevant Scripture quotes: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” “Do not judge the sins of others, lest the Lord judge you according to your own sins.”)

On the key points of Christianity, you’ll find that several participants in this thread agree with you. It’s in how you present your views on, e.g., what God has to say about sin X, that you fall short of doing His will – because simply echoing a given passage as though it were an exclusive statement of His word for a given situation will, I think, nearly always be in error, in terms of what we are supposed to do in His name.

I won’t bug you any further with this in your very own flirt thread, but I thought that much was important to say to avoid your misunderstanding what’s been said by you and to you elsewhere.

I’ll feel like expressing to His4Ever: you have grown on me a bit.

My early impression led me to believe that you were another WV_Woman.

Some examples:

In this thread you expressed agreement with WV_Woman that “only conservatives get Pitted.” Other members posted evidence in that thread to prove otherwise.

His4Ever in this thread :

A person will fall after jumping out a window even if he/she has a parachute to use. A parachute used properly can affect a number of factors including average velocity and acceleration among others, but a parachutist will still fall. Please don’t feel insulted…but your statement gave me little incentive to take any of your thoughts about the spiritual world seriously.
But I’m over and done with first impressions.

WV_Woman had many incoherent thoughts, assumptions, and arguments. She hardly if ever defended herself in reasonable fashion.

His4Ever, you’re far above that. Excuse my first impressions of you.

::drops in, finally, to thread with peculiarly provocative title::

Hmm…His4Ever, I don’t believe I’ve ever said “welcome” either. I must agree, it is good to have you here. We’re an odd and eclectic bunch, and you’re an unusual and interesting addition to our broad-spectrum weirdness.

Hey this ain’t bad for grape juice…

I see. After reading the OP, my initial reaction was, “What the heck?!?” (someone else pointed me to this thread earlier, so I had to see what it was about)

His4Ever, welcome to the boards. This is indeed an eclectic bunch of people, and you’ll perhaps find new friends here. I know I have… and I’m not even half as extremely fundamentalist as you are/  ducks and runs

Seriously though, I hope you do find new friends here to talk to and exchange views on differing subjects. It’s fun, if you’ll let it take you to places you never imagined…

Okay, I’m rambling. I’ll stop now.

By the way, this grape juice isn’t spiked, now is it? It just wouldn’t do… not for this thread, at any rate.

His-lets have a photo, please!

Oh wow, didn’t suspect it really (exempting restaurants with bars, most people have been to those, as far as I have known people). Actually, my first experience in a bar was only about a year ago. Truthfully, I’m not much of a bar person myself. But the real question is…

Was the catfish any good?

cuauhtemoc’s crush on His is touching, sexy, and sweet.

But it is unnerving me because it is making me reevaluate my feelings about Wildest Bill.

Was I really just intrigued by his views? Views so confusing, so asinine at times, so different from mine in every way that they were fascinating?

Or was there something darker at work in my psyche?

Why do I miss his posts?

“Why do I miss his posts?”

Two big reasons I can think of:

He usually was good for a laugh.

Same reason you’d miss a train wreck. It’s just so fasinating.

I miss aspects of who WB was, but I don’t miss him at all.

I miss Bill too, although I sure as hell didn’t have a crush on him. Sometimes december’s more off-the-wall posts can fill the void, but he lacks a certain je ne sais quoi. He’s too coherent. And he doesn’t have an oversized handlebar moustache like Bill did.*

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if I turned out to be a woman? I’m not though.
