String Cheese: Peel Strings, or just Bite?

Exactly the same here.

Peeled. If I’m in a hurry, it might be peeled into pretty coarse “strings” (maybe 6 strings off a stick), but just biting into a whole stick of string cheese is weirdly unappealing to me.

A little of both, actually.

I bite the end off, which creates a rough end that makes it easier to pull strings from.

I do agree with those saying that the flavor is improved by pulling it. More surface area, I think.

I peel it into smaller sticks, but I don’t have the patience to turn it into anything particularly stringy.

I generally peel. If I have it in the house, it’s the smoked mozzarella from the farmer’s market. So I savor it. Unless I’m really hungry and in a hurry, then it disappears in about three bites.

Care for a slice of Bollymunster?

I see string cheese as a convenient single server packaging mechanism. Afternoon snacks for me tend to be an apple with string cheese.

I just bite into them. Separately. No peeling.

I voted on behalf of my two-year-old son who bites.

This.

I’m a biter, but I dip it in hot sauce before biting. Not bland at all. If I try that with the strings, it gets all drippy.

Today’s Pearls Before Swine addresses this important issue.

That settles it, Pastis is a Doper.

I just take a bite of the stick. Watching somebody sit and pick strings off a stick makes me want to grab a baseball bat and start swinging.

Bite. What am I, five? As an adult, the only appeal of string cheese is mess-free one-handed eating. If I have time to pick apart my string cheese, I have time to cut and serve better cheese.

LOL yeah, basically, but I might have chosen a slightly less … ah, lurid phrasing.

*settles self down into **dracoi’*s camp

Came to add I don't bite or peel....I Listen!

Is Stephan Pastis on this board?

I’ve inspired worse.

Never seen the stuff. Does it taste like … cheese?

I always bit the stick once to get a good handle to pull on. It loses its novelty if you don’t string it.
