There is a bit of a resemblance. Both Srulik and the Smurfs were created about the same time - the former in 1956, the latter in 1958 - and were both influenced by the Ligne Clair style:

My avatar is of Al Pacino from the Godfather. If you removed the starched collar and put on a T shirt it would look exactly like me in real life. You might walk past me on the street and say, “that was Dallas Jones.”

I don’t really know any famous skeletons, I guess I would have just guessed skeleton. I mean that’s all I have, I can’t really tell you anything more specific than that because I don’t know.
