My own avatar is not too mysterious-- as to what it is, anyway. The story behind why I chose such an anonymous, anodyne avatar is something I wouldn’t expect the OP to guess, though I’ve shared it on the board before.
I have no idea. I already guessed my answers would be vague, I just promise to identify the thing, identified the animal, the thing, the motor transportation, beyond that I have no idea, haha.
I have no idea. I know a ton of Elmer fudd cartoons but I couldn’t tell you what specific one it is. The only one I know the title of is the duck rabbit duck where they do that wabbit season and duck season thing.
Wait, I have a memory here. It’s that one that shows how they met and they formed a comedy duo and performed plays on a stage and Elmer Fudd started getting tired that he was always the butt of jokes so he wanted to switch them for a little while? I don’t know what the title of that is called; that’s a newer one isn’t it? I don’t think it’s one of the older ones
Yeah, I figured it might dissolve into this. But then again I also thought that people whom I saw the avatars of and already knew might reply to this, but only the people are replying that are the ones I don’t know, which I guess is the point.
I mean I mentioned the Alfred e Newman guy, somebody has an avatar of him on here, why didn’t he reply to this thread? Huh? I mean I know why, he already knew I knew the answer. But his is just an example. There’s like 30 or 40 others that I scoped out in advance that I verified I already knew before this even started, yet none of them are in this thread. Maybe they just haven’t seen it, but maybe they stay away because they already know theirs is too easy.
Yep, best-laid plans, and all that. As you say, it seems your challenge has self-selected for those who know their avatars will be difficult to guess. At least @silenus and @Northern_Piper haven’t checked in, so you’re at least lucky there!

You have to be a very specific kind of nerd to completely identify mine’s origin, but you probably can guess the character.

Yes, a video game character from the first three Suikoden Games. The character’s name is Flik, and in game is sometimes referred to as Flik the Blue Lightning.
It’s a crop from the 1965 paperback cover of Out of the Silent Planet. That particular edition of the book holds significance for me, but it also evokes a slightly earlier age of lurid and fantastic sci-fi book covers such as these:

They are white ibis. If you look closely you can see the curve of their beaks. It’s just a picture that I like that is very similar to one that I took while fishing. I was lucky to be able to get the picture - usually when I’m fishing from my kayak my phone is buried in a watertight floatable pouch and takes too long to get to for any action pictures.
I wanted to use my own picture as my avatar(l), but couldn’t figure out how to upload it here, so I used this similar one that I found on the internet.

You are correct that it is a mascot/logo for a sports team. But it is not Indiana. It’s Cy the Cardinal the mascot of Iowa State University.

@cmyk started a thread that was the opposite of the “Stump the _____” threads. He was such a good sport about it.
