Who is celebrating it? Moore wasn’t in that tweet, and you’ll have to provide a cite for Stone. As far as I can see, some of us are celebrating the end of a stupid policy, and celebrating a brighter future for the Cuban people, but I haven’t seen any celebration of Castro.

When you call it a Cuban victory, that’s celebrating it, plus they both have a history of cozying up to Castro.

I’m a Jew. In 3000 years we’ve beaten discrimination and intimidation for the most part(at least in the US), but the day that we don’t hear stereotypical comments is not likely to come before the Sun turns into a red giant. They haven’t changed in centuries. At least the using gentile blood to make matzoh is over with, so who knows?

The social acceptance of casual anti-semitism in the US has dropped MASSIVELY in the past 50 years or so. What reason is there to think that it has now leveled off at some stable level? I’m sure that cynical Irish people 140 years ago talked about how of course there was always going to be anti-Irish racism in US society…

Problem is, you’re getting into stuff that will never change, ever, ever, ever, so at some point it has to be gotten over. When the worst thing a black man has to worry about is being psychologically wounded by a little white lady( who of course has NO reason to ever be fearful given her privileged life where she never has to worry about being a victim of violence based on her sex…)

Now you’re getting into TWO oppressed sectors of society, which will make a PC person’s head spin if they think about it too hard. Just blame both their situations on white men, makes it much easier.

It’s important to distinguish between racism that is directed primarily from one race to another, and racism that comes even from your own race. When black women clutch their purse close or go to the other side of the street, then the problem isn’t race, per se. Too late to include this in my previous post, but the Snopes article on Obama’s Indonesian scholarship is instructive. Anyone wishing to check the story prior to the LA times article Adaher cited (and who didn’t notice that the fake article was dated April 1) would have easily found out that

• there was no such headline story in the Daily Mail

• there was no such organization as “Americans for Freedom of Information”

• there are no Fulbright scholarships for foreign undergraduates

All of that would have been very easy to Google. It might have taken a bit more time to learn that Occidental College has no record of a student named Barry Soetero, or of a court order ordering the release of his (or Obama’s) records.
