I did find this on ABC News.
Pro-tip for adaher : Democrat ≠ Liberal. Indeed many of the “stupid liberal ideas” presented in this thread were actually actions of Democrats being stupid right-wingers.
:smack: I’m not up-to-date on the precise difference between Tweeter, Twitty, Twitchy, Twatfool, Turdpool, Facebook, and FoxNews comments, but … really? You need to link to random citizens to find “stupid liberal ideas”? What a joke. If the rational side deigned to cite idiotic comments from random right-wingers found on such sites, the SRIOTD thread would be twenty times as long.
I’m new to this thread but in the Republican version of the same thread, it’s limited to people in power. Any dumb idea is posited by an elected official or a pundit with a lot of clout in the GOP (Rush, Nugent).
Here I see that some random person on Facebook can get called out?
I guess that’s the difference. Republicans elect their crazies or look to them for guidance.
Most of the ideas in this thread aren’t even stupid ideas as much as Clothy doesn’t agree with it.
Like the first post. Summer and day camps would be required to have medical aid available if they allowed certain games, Clothy likened it to “wrapping kids in cotton”.
He didn’t even read the whole article or he would have found it was undergoing further review.
Pretty much a fail from “Go”.
Hell, we could just set up a feed from Free Republic and call it a day.
Very true. I know plenty of left-wing idiots and loons. Very, very few of them are in elected office or have some sort of media role.
Seven dead from the libtard train crash in Philadelphia and – wouldn’t you know? – the libtards are repeating their annual whine for socialist safety funding for their socialized railroad. The libtard press went into high gear whining for better infrastructure, and asking that America’s rails be brought up to the standard of socialist Europe. More vexatious Marxist nagging!! If Europe’s so great, why are they crawling over each other to swim across the Rio Grande? And it was human error that caused the crash; for Baby Jesus’ sake, let’s assume some personal responsibility. If the drugged-out teat-suckler who sent people to their deaths doesn’t have the money to pay claims, it’s his own fault – why didn’t he invest his overtime checks in Apple stock, or a good hedge fund?
Fortunately the Republicans, the Party that Loves the Real America, turned down the whining again. Starve the socialist railroad! Starve the beast! Let the seven dead be glorious martyrs to the cause. Now let’s hope some Cliven Bundy rises up to take back America’s Railroad from the socialists at gunpoint.
I wish I had known there were entertaining posts in this thread - I’d have checked it out earlier!
So there’s a train wreck, and the Republicans vote to decrease safety funding…and this is a stupid liberal idea?
Satire, methinks.
Damn! Poed!
:smack: Adding a sarcastic-face icon would spoil the effect, so to avoid confusion I try to make such a post as egregious as possible. That people might mistake such a post for “the real thing” reminds us how beyond-all-reason whacko the libertarians and right-wingers have become. (In another thread, our esteemed right-wing lawyer had no moral objection to destroying the Shroud of Turin if it was privately owned. :dubious: )
But … reread the post please and tell me whether I really needed to go even farther than I did to make its sarcastic character clear.
That’s the problem: the real right-wingers say exactly this kind of stuff. It’s almost impossible to parody it unambiguously.
One way a lot of us make satire less ambiguous is by the use of dialect. “Them flag-stompin’ lib’rul wussies an’ their Mooslim atheist darkie in th’ What House.” It’s ugly…but the real sentiments that this mocks are also ugly.
Canada, have seen the problems the US Constitution caused with the whole “states’ rights” thing, wrote our Constitution in 1867 to specify what the provinces can do and reserving everything else to the federal government.
Because we’re not willing to spend enough money on them?
This incident actually happened in January, but he was in the news today for pleading guilty today and it hadn’t been mentioned in the thread before, so I’m going to post it now
Like father like son.
Marion Christopher Barry, son of Marion “bitch set me up” Barry, ran for his fathers DC city counsel seat based on the hope that people in the Ward won’t remember that his father died last year when they saw his name on the ballot.
8 days after announcing his candidacy he decided to withdraw $20,000 in cash from his bank account. The teller refused on the flimsy excuse that the account was already overdrawn by $2,000. The unfairness of this naturally upset Barry.
Naturally this did not do his campaign any favors and he ended up with 6% of the votes, setting a new benchmark for the estimation of the crazification factor.
What bank? I’d love one that would let me overdraw by $2000.
TD Bank allows me an overdraft of $3000, and I only had to lightly toss a wastebasket.
Not so much a “Stupid Liberal Idea”. More like a “Stupid Liberal That Needs To Be Locked Up”.
Maybe the stupid liberal idea there was Marion Barry’s decision to reproduce.
Everything about this is just plain stupid: Feminist Students Protest Feminist Prof for Writing About Feminism. (In fact everything about Emma Sulkowicz is stupid, but that’s another matter) Amazing how you guys can have any kind of functional university with that kind of hysteric nonsense and rubbish going on. But perhaps it’s mostly found on Women’s Studies which seems to be rubbish anyway. Although I’m sure SDMB will take the usual route and declare it nothing to do with liberals.
