Are you implying that a right-wing ideologue might take something Obama or, say, Clinton said, cut it short to remove it from context and use the truncated version to imply that it means something completely different? Because that has never happened before.
That’s truly a terrible story, but the “fear of transgressing against PC” is once again a right-wing fantasy. More like “fear of reactionary idiots attacking innocent Pakistanis in reaction to this story, making things worse”, as indeed they did in the wake of the Lee Rigby murder.
Which is not in any way to excuse the inaction of the police, but it’s got fuck-all to do with political correctness.
I can’t check that link at work, but that may or may not be stupid, depending on a few factors. While there are plenty of main stream games with Nazi symbols in them, they are always the bad guys. And I don’t know if any of them are available from Apple. If Apple is going to model their rules about Confederate symbolism after their rules about Nazi symbolism, that would make sense. And if they pulled everything off until they review them that would also make sense.
It’s not like it’s an emergency. They should have only pulled the ones which failed to pass review, not pulled everything and only put back in the ones that pass. Very often app developers are barely scraping by. Those who used the flag appropriately shouldn’t be punished.
