this is more a sign of how far to the left the Democrat Party has moved than the Clintons themselves (they can’t easily triangulate as they did in the '90s with welfare reform and crime). If only Rubio had been the GOP nominee, I’d be voting for him; the Putin thing (which could piss away our Cold War victory) is the deal breaker for Trump with me. But for Congress (House and Senate), I’ll be punishing the Democrat Party’s left turn.
From your source:
So you’re going by the opinions of largely anonymous experts.
The World Index of Moral Freedom however, lists the US as #7. If we were less restrictive on drug use, we’d be higher.
Iran does have more moral freedom than Saudi Arabia, at #154 and #160 respectively. But since SA is at the very bottom the list, that’s not saying much.
Where do you get the idea that Iraq and Afghanistan are “US bred”? They’re more like third trimester abortions. US influence didn’t last very long.
So bigots complain that her complaining about bigots harassing her is “badmouthing the USA”? And you think that’s a reasonable argument? Why does that not surprise me?
Seriously, Clothahump, don’t ever change. No matter what actual stupid liberal ideas the rest of us come up with, every post from you in this thread shows what pikers us liberals are when it comes to stupid ideas.
DerekMichaels00 - again: it’s a “sign of how far to the left the Democrat**[ic]** Party has moved” that a Muslim woman is worried about anti-Muslim bigots like you? What color is the sky on your planet?
What’s a sign? There’s nothing here. No badmouthing of the USA. More bigoted bullshit from our resident bigoted-bullshitter.
“A misleading article reported that presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had “refused” to congratulate American gold medalist Ginny Thrasher.”
You actually consider that a legitimate news source? Well (to steal a phrase), my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.
From that Snopes article:
“Team USA is expected to claim dozens more gold medals (they took home 46 in 2012) at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and it’s unlikely that either candidate will mention each of those athletes by name on social media in the midst of a busy presidential campaign.”
I think that is sad. Both candidates, and the President, and many other government officials should take the 10 seconds to tweet out a message to each medal winner.
Yes, which will then have exactly the same sincerity and depth of meaning as the average Facebook “Like”.
Better that government officials should tweet admonishments to all Team USA athletes when they fail to make the podium. This is how we begin to Make America Great Again.
Missed opportunity for the Hillary Hystericals.
“Hillary Clinton fails to congratulate medal winner in shooting at Olympics! Shame! More proof of how anti-gun liberals are!”
I fail to see how the two are similar. And besides, if the President “Liked” something on my page on Facebook, I think that would be awesome.
I think Obama and Hillary should make a run down to Rio and GRAB those guns.
I sincerely doubt that Thrasher cares one way or the other but I would think that winning the first gold medal of the Olympics would be big enough of a deal that Secretary Clinton or one of her staff could have tweeted about it. Senator Kaine, from Thrasher’s home state, certainly should have.
And you think the President should spend time away from running the country to surf Facebook and like things? :dubious:
Or would you be content with a cubicle farm of interns doing it under his/her account? ![]()
Yes, I think the President should take time away from running the country to send a congratulatory tweet to any USA medal winner in the Olympics. YMMV.
They didn’t miss it. Seen several of them, twittered, FacePlant, that sort of thing,
Should it be as big of a deal to Donald Trump? Because, as the linked Snopes article details, he didn’t congratulate Ginny Thrasher either.
Being the twitter guy that he is, I think that the Donald should have put something out there too. However, he hasn’t congratulated any Olympians so far. Secretary Clinton has. AFAICT, Senator Kaine usually sticks to political issues on twitter but he does have one sports related tweet within the last couple of days. I think it would have been a nice gesture for him to acknowledge Thrasher’s accomplishment.
Given Trump’s history, I’d expect him to be tweeting athletes who didn’t make the podium with something like “LOSER!! I like people who win gold. When I’m President we’re going to win so much gold you’ll be tired of it.”
Ibtihaj Muhammad was born in New Jersey. That highly trustworthy right wing flak complaining about her choosing to stay here? Why should she leave her home country, instead of hoping to get it fixed?
