Stupid liberal idea of the day

Remember, folks, we need to oppose people who oppress women by dictating what they can and can’t wear, and the only way to do it is to dictate what women can or can’t wear.

Because freedom!

Fair enough, but I would suggest that someone raised in a Christian community where the wearing of crucifixes (and other actions) is normal and expected also faces much of those pressures.

I couldn’t take the pressure of “Do I wear the flag pin or not, or do I wear the Rotary 25-Years-Of-Perfect-Attendance pin?” so I stopped wearing sportcoats completely.

(Stupid liberal) idea rather than stupid (liberal idea): Third strike for Weiner. Seriously man, get help. If you can’t get help, get a reality show. “Weiner of Love”?

Well that was just dumb as hell. I must admit, I enjoyed the read regardless. If trump was caught with stuff like that, it would be on the front of every newspaper!

If Trump was caught with stuff like that, he’d accuse Hilary of doing the same thing.

Yes, of course it would. I can’t tell what point you’re making.

I was just saying, that I wouldn’t have heard of this news if it was not for the dope. That’s my point. It is not really big news IMO. Was just entertaining.

Maybe your source of news is the problem. It’s at the top of CNN’s and Google’s news feeds.

Yeo, top news on cnn.

If that’s the case I must have managed to remain ignorant about it. My bad.

This thread is looking a bit forlorn next to the perpetually-updating SRIOTD thread. Here is a small bone:

Pipeline protest photo is actually a photo of Woodstock.

Admittedly I am just assuming that someone apparently supporting the pipeline protest is liberal and it’s just some idiot on Facebook rather than an elected official or candidate for POTUS, but this thread needs all the help it can get.

Cultural note: WASP’s don’t usually wear crucifixes. Those are crosses with Jesus nailed on & are considered sort of…Catholic. You know, those ethnic types who pray with rosaries & have graven images in their over-decorated churches. (Greg Abbott, Texas’s Republican governor, said good things about Our Lady on Facebook–in honor of Assumption Day. He had to remove the post because of hate messages from the Bible thumpers in his own party.)

A discreet plain cross is much more tasteful. Or one of those passive-aggressive fish. (Yes, we must use this “secret” symbol because we are so persecuted!)

The NY Times editorial page can be rich mining for stupid liberal ideas. Today they attack Missouri’s new concealed carry and stand your ground laws. Which is not a stupid liberal idea, there are reasonable arguments against both. But the Times doesn’t pick the reasonable arguments, they go full on stupid, starting with calling Missouri the “Shoot Me State”. Missouri isn’t the first to enact such laws and no state that has enacted such laws has seen anything negative come from these laws. Vermont’s still one of the safest states. Then they pull out this little bit of stupid:

Only the states and local governments have a police power under our Constitution. The federal government can enact some gun laws, but given how many guns are out there, any enforcement would be “left to the states”. I’m also quite sick of liberals talking about this or that issue being “left to the states” as if it’s some kind of responsibility a parent gives to a child, like taking out the garbage. Many liberals, like those at the NY Times, have the attitude that states are merely administrative districts of the federal government, responsible for things like traffic lights and trash collection while the adults in Washington(HAH!) do the important stuff. The police power wasn’t “left” to the states, it was a power specifically denied the federal government because a federal government could not be trusted with such a power. So “gun safety” will always be a state issue for the most part. Get used to it, get over it, NY Times.

Wait, a clown? We have a whole different thread for him, then.

So, if the FBI comes, I can just tell them to bugger off? And these so-called “Federal Marshalls”?

That’s not a general police power. You will not see US officers patrolling the streets, which is necessary to enforce gun and drug laws. An FBI agent can only arrest with a warrant. You can walk by the FBI field office and sit on the corner doing cocaine and looking at child porn and they can’t come out and arrest you unless you’re there long enough for them to get a judge to issue a warrant. Instead, they’d have to call the local cops to come get you.

Missouri has long been known as the “show me state”; in reference to it residents alleged skepticism.

But you knew that, right?

Of course I did. It’s still stupid. Missouri is not going to see an increase in gun deaths, anymore than Vermont, Colorado, or nearly a dozen other states who have enacted similar legislation.

Seems that science doesn’t get much respect when it doesn’t fit the Times’ preferred agenda.

For a new topic - one has to marvel of the level of stupidity in Hillary’s campaign, when they salt the audience with a shill to lob a softball question to her. They might have gotten away with it, but no…they picked the daughter of a Democrat state senator and got busted for it.
