Stupid liberal idea of the day

It’s not malarkey, it’s basic logic. An idol is a god you made yourself. Whether it’s physical or mental makes no difference. If you thought it up, it’s an idol.

Of course it’s malarkey. Let’s look at exactly what you wrote:

Not all faiths postulate the existence of deity of any sort. Those faiths cannot be idolatry because they aren’t worshiping anyone or anything. Next, there are faiths that are similar to others but the newer faiths have less in the way of deity than the older ones; for example, Islam, which is decidedly monotheist and not idolatry at all.

Perchance you are looking for the word heresy. They are not synonyms.

By your argument, condemning abortion as murder is idolatry, then, isn’t it? Or at the very least, condemning birth control as such is.

The oldest book on which Christianity is based does not equate a fetus with human life. I am not aware of any place where the Gospels do so, but I am willing to have my ignorance fought there.

Wait, ok I know I’m a bit late to the game responding to this but, really? Do people really think you can live on that? I make just a little more than that, $28k before taxes, $24k after, and I’m struggling with just myself and my daughter. I have no idea where they base these numbers off of but that seems horribly skewed. There’s no way a single person could support a spouse and two kids on $27k a year, at least not here in the Pacific NW. Maybe in like, the middle of nowhere Midwest or deep South but even then I’m guessing they don’t offer $13 as the starting wage in those places.

I’m sorry, it just annoys me when people look at the federal poverty levels and just assume if someone makes over that, then they’re not poor or they shouldn’t be paid more. I consider myself poor as fuck and according to that I should be riding free and clear. In my opinion, which I realize is worth as much as the keyboard I’m typing it lol, companies are making way too much profit while their employees are paid way too little to even survive.

In fairness, a four person household doesn’t have twice the expenses of a two person household. And if one person is making that money and the other stays at home, you can save even more.

It might not double but you’re going to need a larger place to live, you’re going to spend more money on food obviously, more money on gas driving kids places, more money on clothing, school supplies, everything needed to raise a child. And once your kid enters grade school, having one parent stay at home saves you nothing. The school is now your(free) babysitter. Mom/Dad needs to get their ass back to work to start even THINKING about saving money.

While I agree with your point overall, grade school does not mean the end of child care. We had to pay up to $400 per kid per month through 5th grade. If one of us stayed home, we would have saved that.

There’s more to the issue than just simple increase in income. There is also maintaining a professional arc.

FWIW the SNAP income limits are 130% of the poverty threshold, so just shy of $32k for that family of four. That is, of course, regardless of location. That works out to $15.37/h if working 40 x 52.

For somewhat arbitrary but oft-cited “living” wage, the MIT numbers for arbitrary bumblefuck (I chose Holmes County, MS) tell me $25.38/h or $49k/y with one adult working, or $12.85/h or $53k/y (combined) with both working 2080 hours. More desirable locations will come in higher.

Idiots are claiming that they are suffering symptoms of PTSD over the emergency alert this afternoon.

GROW UP!

I read the article. No one is identified as “left” leaning in any way. (the last one can probably be fairly classified as such, given her description of Trump. Although, you don’t have to be a leftist to hate Trump)

Any evidence at all that this is a ‘liberal idea’?

Wow! There were around 20 people in that article who said they had PTSD. TWENTY whole people! I can’t believe I failed to recognize the significance of 20 people on Twitter saying something.

Furthermore, what sets off PTSD symptoms are by definition not something people have control over. So telling them to “Grow up” is as helpful as telling a guy with a severe peanut allergy to quit complaining and eat your PB and J.

Precisely. If someone is saying that this emergency alert caused someone to develop PTSD, never having suffered any symptoms before, then I would give the ol’ :dubious:

But lots of things can trigger a PTSD episode for someone suffering from it. And one doesn’t always know, in advance, what will or will not trigger it, nor in what circumstance a potential trigger will active PTSD symptoms. Maybe one was in a good head place when the tornado alert came through a few months back, but today one’s stress levels were already red-lining.

Easier for those without a shred of decency or compassion to just point and laugh, and make unfounded assumptions. And lacking any decency or compassion describes D’Anconia and its ilk.

I never thought it was possible for someone to out-stupid the OP in faking up “liberal ideas”.
And considering your aversion to mainstream cites, it’s laughable to use Redstate as a cite.

Did any of those people look or sound like conservatives?

You mean all bitchy and whiny and victimized?
You know, snowflake-like.

Do tell. What do conservatives look and sound like? Do they have reddish faces? Is there a standard outfit? Is there a twang to their speech?

Sure would be helpful be able to identify them by appearance and sound alone.

Dear Lord you’re an ass. Or are you just an imbecile? Hmmm…
