Stupid liberal idea of the day

Just another example of Dutch perfidy! They’re coming to saw your doors in half! We’re Dyslexic-Americans Untied to Beat the Dutch! Wake up, America!

" There are only two things I can’t stand in this world: people who are intolerant of other people’s cultures, and the Dutch."

Michael Caine

National Lampoon once had a hilarious “newsletter” from an anti-Dutch group pointing out the horrible things they were doing. They’ll make you wear wooden shoes! Who knows what they’re cooking up in their Dutch Ovens! They want to take over the country “from Zee to Zuider Zee”!

My guess was that at that point she realized that she had blown her answer, completely, and had enough historical knowledge to at least make a silly exit from that point.

Her office is claiming that it was supposed to be a joke. I’m not sure that that spin will work in this case, but she did not really come off as an idiot in the rest of the interview.

(For dumb comments, I’ll put her silly answer against Arizona Governor Jan Brewer saying at the Republican convention that she expected Obama to win this election, and she hoped he would.)

Kerry Washington at the DNC:

Oh, for pity’s sake.

All of those things are true, and I’m sure you know that.

How about you tell us which concept, or word, you disagree with, Clothy? It’s no fun, just saying “Clothy’s all pissed-off again!” We need to know what angers you, so we can then mock your anger. Help us out, here. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure underestimating Humpy’s igorance on any given subject constitutes a stupid liberal idea.

Let’s analyze the statement, shall we?

“People”. Not “ALL REPUBLICANS”, not “EVERY REPUBLICAN”, not “REPUBLICANS ARE BY DEFINITION EVIL SHITHOSES”, just “people.”

Seems fairly dead-on to me.

Bite me, fish. You know damn good and well she meant all Republicans and she knew she was lying through her teeth when she said it. And all the dipshits at the convention applauded her. And so did you, more than likely.

I was wondering what that equal pay referred to actually. I thought Clothahump was going to post an impassioned plea for equality of outcome and how the Republicans and the free market are the aegis of such a concept, but the damn government keeps interceding and promoting an unequal distribution of wealth.

I also fail to see what could be misleading about Washington’s statement. I gather she’s talking specifically about American women, and American black women in particular, and whatever measure of equality and liberty they currently have is mostly a product of struggles over just the last 100 years or so, roughly within the timeframe of a modern adult’s great-grandmother.

I try to help out by pointing to an actual stupid liberal idea and this is the thanks I get? Ingrate.

I think this board is an Equal Opportunity Annoyer. It can dish out snark to weaselly libs and cons.

And do it with a cogent argument, and a certain amount of style.

But…

and

… not so much.

Clothahump’s idea that Washington was lying strikes me as grist for that other thread - you know the one I mean.

That isn’t denying access to health care, just government funded health care.

Which for a large chunk of the population is the only healthcare they have a chance of getting.

For far too many of them, if they had bothered to make responsible choices, they wouldn’t be in that situation. For example, if you can’t feed 'em, don’t breed 'em.

Or if you can’t work for a living because you’re a lazy ‘disabled’ fuckwit, marry a rich guy with low standards!

This isn’t a liberal problem or a conservative one, but universal - you don’t like the message, make up shit and attack the messenger!
