Stupid liberal idea of the day

Obama just delivered a speech-he wants US military bases to raise their use of “renewable” energy from 7% of consumption to 23%.
great-you know what this means:
-huge contracts for solar cell arrays (made in China)
-subsidies for battery mfgs.
-higher costs for the US taxpayers
Its just another kickback scheme, to reward his campaign “bundlers”-who own these bust out firms. After spending billions, the solar arrays will be abandoned, and another few billion $$ added to the national debt.
But as long as we can keep printing money, who cares?

I have little faith you know what this means. When you find a cite, we’ll talk.

You keep plugging away there.

After all, your last effort to “analyze” the economics of renewable energy went so well.

  1. It wasn’t a speech, it was a memorandum (available here).

  2. It wasn’t aimed at simply at the military; it was aimed at all federal agencies.

  3. The target is 20% (not 23%) by the year 2020

As usual, ralph124c’s words:errors ratio is comfortably in single digits.

Thanks for your input, Ralph. :stuck_out_tongue: But in future please just post your stupid ideas directly to the Stupid Republican Ideas thread.

Thanks in advance.

And yet your 1500 post thread has zero examples of stupid liberal ideas by any of the people you mentioned. That’s odd.

Ever heard of Obamacare? Ever heard of Cash for Clunkers? Ever heard of Big-ass Bailouts? Apparently not.

“Big-ass Bailouts?” Actually, no, but WBAGNFARB. You mean keeping GM and Chrysler solvent? You mean the bailouts that actually returned a net profit to the Treasury? And mostly started under Bush, if I recall correctly?

And Obamacare is a conservative program, also- it’s quite close to Romneycare and the Bob Dole plan from the 90s.

Or maybe you meant TARP.
Here ya go, Dipshit:

ACA is essentially, as I understand it, the Heritage Foundation plan. Those notorious liberals…

Car Allowance Rebate System - Wikipedia.

My main point: “…The House approved the creation of a cash-for-clunkers program with the 298 to 119 passage of the CARS Act (“Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act”, H.R. 1550). The House bill, sponsored by Rep. Betty Sutton (D-Ohio), allowed consumers to trade in vehicles with a combined fuel economy of 18 or less for new, more efficient vehicles.[23] In the Senate, Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan) and Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) sponsored a bill very similar to the House’s.
An alternative bill proposed by Dianne Feinstein (D-California), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and Charles Schumer (D-New York) would have had a greater focus on increasing fuel economy.”
notice the bipartisan nature of the sponsors, idjit?
You are 0 for 3 in your attempt to cite specific stupid liberal ideas. Heckuva job, Clothy!

See, out of those, one is chugging along quite nicely, one is hard to count as liberal or a failure, and one was implemented under a conservative regime and is regarded in economic circles as a success.

You know, I could easily go into the SRIotD thread and start saying literally anything any conservative has supported. I could say something like, oh…

But of course, in that thread, for some reason, people expect to be shown that:
a) It’s a stupid idea
b) It’s a republican idea
c) It’s an actual coherent thought, as opposed to, say, “Big-ass Bailouts” which could refer to any number of bills since the turn of the century.
…In this thread, those things are somehow waived. Ah well, republicans and evidence never got along that well anyways.

Although you could make a case that it was stupid (or at least naive) of Obama to think that just because he was adopting the Republicans’ health care plan that they would then actually vote for it.

In Ontario, Canada, the so-called Education Ministry determined that high school math scores are poor and declining. Believe it or not, the Minister (a woman), actually decided that this could be corrected best by giving math teachers another day off with pay, in their words, hoping that teachers would use the extra day to improve their skills.
This is the same Liberal govt that paid $1B to build a gas energy plant, then canceled it in order to win a majority in the election (worked), so we fully paid for a plant that was not built and will not be built. But the public will complain wildly about govt spending and then participate. The same Liberal govt won a previous election by promising to create a new holiday in February - Family day. The public loved it, took, and now it costs at least $1 B. annually in extra costs to the govt., and to businesses, not to mention the huge decline in productivity province wide. By the way, this is a province in which the core religion for many people is their obsession that Canada and Canadians are sooooo superior to Americans and the U.S. govt. Right.

Those women! They’re just so irrational. No way a man would ever have done anything like this!

And what was the platform of Hudak’s Conservatives about the power plant?

Oh… It turns out that if they won the election, they would have done exactly the same thing. So I guess it was not a stupid liberal idea after all, eh?

How’s that revisionist history thing working out for you?

As for Obamacare being a “stupid liberal idea,” the intellectually honest person would need to break this down into specifics. The Affordable Care Act is a large omnibus bill with many components, a significant number of which coming directly from conservative sources or, frankly, from the heath care industry itself. It’s hard for me to believe that the intellectually honest conservative could really say that every single component of the ACA is stupid.

The mandate to purchase insurance? Oh yes. That’s originally a conservative idea. Of course it’s also now the main portion of the ACA that conservatives are incensed about, other than the usual idiotic bashing lacking any specific criticism, which is the best you get from the likes of Clothahump.

While I wouldn’t say she a Liberal (she would not have been elected from Chatham County otherwise), first term Democratic State Representative Deborah H. McManus has been charged with embezzling $47,000 from the medical practice she was keeping the books for. I just want to thank her for perpetuating the stereotype that Eastern Democrats are all crooked.

This is for you, Deb:

Assuming it’s true, it’s definitely a stupid idea, but I am also curious as to why it signifies that the Minister is a woman.
