That is not the most troubling part: try pointing out teh stupid to them – their typical response is not to recant, apologize or even appear to recognize it, they double down, fist-pump triumphantly and exhuberate even more vehemently in it. These people will not be satisfied until the entire nation is drowning in bullshit so deep that it is flowing across our borders like implacable lava.

The responses I have seen to pointing out the facts and the stupidity is a complete change of subject and spouting of a new brainless conservative meme. “Obama thinks he’s a dictator, he should be in jail!” OK, and that’s related to Republican senators sabotaging peace negotiations in Iran how, exactly?!

The more wrong, the more certain – their willful ignorance appears to have entered a self-reinforcing backfire effect loop. I think it is because they know they are fighting an ultimately doomed cultural/social rearguard action. It breeds ever-increasing desperation and requires ever-increasing audacity.

You are completely missing the point. Let me try to clarify:

Religious right type people are terrified of “sharia law” because of the injustice and cruelty such a system would bring. These same people would be in favor of Bible-based law, even though a lot of the same barbaric stuff in sharia law is prescribed by Old Testament Bible law.

The number of stonings in the U.S. these days is completely irrelevant, not sure how that is confusing you.

Your point seems to be that Christians are hypocrites because the bible says things about war and killing, etc. Except for some extreme types, Christians don’t believe in stoning people or selling their children or whatever gotcha you think you’ve got there. Most Christians are fully aware that we aren’t living in the ME, 2000 years in the past.

Actually, it looks like there is a peak just east of Wales, on the tip of the mainland peninsula, where, if you stand on it and use binoculars, on a clear day, you should be able to see the tip of the Siberian peninsula across the strait.

I was under the impression that the Republican Party was the anti-abortion, anti-woman party. Putting women in jail for miscarriages and being pro-rape is their turf.

Don’t fall into the same trap as you criticize others for by being bigoted against Christians. The majority of them are not pro-cruelty as you seem to believe. Only the extremists and the ignorant.

And most Muslims don’t support whippings/stonings/hand-chopping (although I’ll grant you that there is a larger percentage that support that ‘old-school’ than Christians that support it).

But the various RFRA laws don’t differentiate that way, do they? And they certainly pave the way for the implementation of Sharia law in the US.
