Sadly, they are actually a lot more moderate than some sites.
You can still find the original article and caption on their archive page:
You beat me to it, although I found it in the Yahoo! search page cache instead.
So… if the majority of people in those states want segregation?
You know, if you really want to express your disgust with the Confederate battle flag, show it by deliberately flying it upside-down.
Yeah, I’m enjoying the insincere, squirmy verbal dances Republican presidential candidates are having to do, since South Carolina is one of those very early primary states with undue influence.
So, because their party owns the racists, they’re kowtowing to these assholes who think for a state government to fly a symbol of a treasonous uprising that was fought for the cause of slavery, that’s just dandy.
Because he’s a Fox News host, I’m going to assume he’s a Rep.
Look at this photo, and tell me what could possibly go wrong (and it did):
Stay tuned for Fox’s special report on machine guns.
ETA: yep, he’s a Republican. And he named his son Gunner.
The president of the Council of Conservative Citizens, which was an influence on Dylann Roof, is a contributor to several Republican Presidential candidates. Only Ted Cruz’s campaign has said that they will give the money back.
The guy lists his occupation on some of the contribution forms as “slumlord”.
At least he’s more honest than most slumlords.
One of the talking heads and bosoms over at Fox News seems to be having trouble with the Confederate Battle Flag, aka The Red Rag of the Rebellion by quietly ignoring the KKK, the rise of the Dixiecrats, the Southern resistance to the civil rights movement and the sea change in Southern politics that happened when LBJ pushed and signed the several civil rights acts. Some how it seems to give the talking heads and bosoms some pleasure to identify the Democrats of 1860 with the party of the same name as it has existed since 1948.
I can’t help but remember the political slogan of the post Civil War era, that, to paraphrase, for every bullet fired at soldier boy in blue the trigger was pulled by a Democrat.
The two views are equally dishonest.
It hardly needs to be said that the Red Rag, no matter what it may have meant in terms of devotion to duty, suffering, loss and comradeship to the veterans of the Rebel armies, (US Grant quote: no better men ever served a worse cause) it quickly became the rallying point of White Supremacy during Reconstruction and it has remained so for almost 150 years. That means that for the lifetime of everyone who is around now it has been the symbol of White Supremacy as long as they or their parents or grandparents can remember. To pretend otherwise is to seek to avoid reality and to wallow in the general dishonesty of the whole thing.
This from a guy whose antecedent helped burn down Columbia SC in the Spring of '65 and wishes his Great-great-grandfather had done a more complete job.
Fox News Host says that the Confederate flag is the flag of the Democratic Party.
In a perverse way, this may actually be a good sign. Fox News is now demonizing the Confederate battle flag. Granted, they’re doing it in their own weird twisted Orwellian way of doing things, but they are demonizing it. It seems like the right may be ready to give in on this particular issue.
We’ll know the struggle is won when the Fox News crawler displays “Confederate Battle Flag (D) Has Ties To Charleston Killer.”
I would have instead expected a crawler saying something like:
“Governor Nikki Haley (D) declares Confederate flag will be removed from capitol grounds.”
The glasses are supposed to keep people from noticing that he’s the same doofus who ran for President last time, like the way Clark Kent’s glasses keep people from noticing that he’s Superman.
So, you’re saying Rick Perry wears tights in his spare time and can look through people’s clothing?
Also, he likes to get naked in phone booths.
Unfortunately for the rest of us, there are no phone booths.
It’s not naked if he’s wearing glasses.
