So this week she’s anti-Papist, although she’s trying, absurdly, to claim that “American Catholics” are different from “Roman Catholics.” Last week it was Jews–American Jews at that.
So, who’s she going after next week? Mormons? Seventh-Day Adventists? Sikhs? Confucians? Lutherans? The Traveling Wilburys?
I feel about President Trump the way Jimmy Kimmel felt about Governor Schwarzenegger. He said something like, “I’m torn. This is very bad for my state, but very good for me as a comedian.”
Of course, personally, I’d rather have Schwarzenegger in the White House; but that’s not going to happen.
It is true that many founding fathers originally wanted to dismiss catholics, and it is also true that a good number of catholics did maintain ideas of respecting the divine rights of kings and fought alongside the British, but everything changed when the Revolutionaries found that they needed France to succeed.
And that is why George Washington thanked Catholics after he became president:
And, yes, even with all that it is also true that a lot of anti-catholic feelings remained among many, and what rights Catholics had in the new USA did vary a lot state by state. Over here we should not forget one reason that Benedict Arnold said that made him betray the American cause, he publicly cited America’s alliance with Catholic France as one of the reasons.
Well, what do you know, the harpy is more in tune with the Traitor.
With today’s GOP…that’s not saying much. Mike could have a brief surge in the polls with his “Prince of Darkness, Jr.” strategy (sporting a 666 lapel pin below the American flag), but even Satan himself is flummoxed over the feculent crop of GOP candidates he’s having to work with.
Hey, if the President (Obama or Jindal or whoever) could just fire lesser elected officials at will ((what would Trump do?)) then he can certainly fire a lowly elected county clerk now and then. What’s stopping him?
Addressing his bizarre views yesterday, the GOP presidential hopeful said, “I’m not gonna denigrate you because of your faith and you shouldn’t denigrate me for mine. And that’s the kind of attitude, you know – that’s the kind of attitude that I think is very important in the society in which we live today.”
Bolding mine.
This is just too funny given his recent remarks about religion and the presidency.
Just because he is extremely competent to mess around with your brain, it doesn’t mean his is necessairily in full working order…
For example, my brother has a PhD (so does his wife) and a very good job, but he holds many of the same views as Carson…wouldn’t be surprised if he’s backing him.
Competence in one field does not translate to intelligence in others…more’s the pity.
Well, yeah, but I’d wish the guy rooting around in my noggin to have a rough understanding of evolution, if only as it pertains to biology - specifically the biology of my noggin. 'Cause I figure that probably helps :).
I know surgeons are just glorified mechanics (who in turn are just glorified LEGO enthusiasts), but still.
It helps to remember this, especially when some primitive religious nutjob is building a nuclear bomb. Just because they seem like an idiot, because of their religious beliefs, doesn’t make them stupid when it comes to war.
