Am I the only one who has a hard time believing that anyone could say such a thing and actually believe it? Sometimes I have to wonder if people like Falwell Jr. are simply trolls or paid political operatives.
I recall that in 1968 Nixon operatives told the North Vietnamese at the Paris peace talks they’d get a better deal from him after the election. In a similar fashion, Reagan people got the Iranians to hold on to the 79 American hostages until after the 1980 election.
Let’s see if these develops.
Of course the party out of power always wants bad stuff to happen, but openly hoping, is a bit much.
I genuinely feel bad if anyone not named Rick Santorum is negatively affected. But consider this: the alternate definition is well-known in political circles and people who follow politics on the internet. As the majority of people don’t even vote, I’ve no doubt that most people don’t know what it means. Even still, as it is not directed towards them, Bob Santorum or Thelma Santorum probably gets a few chuckles from their friends, but nothing more.
There are people named Gaylord, Bush, Beaver, Head, Hooker, etc. I’m sure their friends and family isn’t mocking them day and night and driving them to depression. The other Santorums of the world will get a few jokes from their friends, but that’s probably about it. Strangers may snicker behind their backs, but you’re acting as if every cashier, waiter, or hotel desk clerk is actively throwing shit onto Irwin Santorum’s head. Its not happening. Rick Santorum is the only one really being harmed by this. Savage did something wonderful to make him look like the buffoon he is, and the other Santorums are not suffering much, if at all, from the association.
Not to introduce data into this or anything, but http://www.locatemyname.com has records of 47 people with the surname “Santorum” in the US and estimates 58. The heaviest concentration is in Virginia, which presumably would be because of the politician’s family. The site records 189 worldwide, though the estimates add up to nearly 1000.
But, it says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
See, Congress is the federal government. States Rights!
I will use that guy’s picture as a stock photo for today’s whackdoodle RINO’s. Old, white, angry, confused, and deeply fearful of the new more colorful world he faces.
