Stupid Republican idea of the day

Celiac is a Liberal Plot. No “True American” has this “disease.”

You could adopt my policy. I only address him in order to call him names. I don’t even do that 1/10th as much as I am tempted to.

“Idiot” doesn’t even begin to describe him. It’s only the first in a long, long, long list of derogatory terms that fit him perfectly.

Well, as The Simpsons said…

“Just don’t look!
Just don’t look!”

I have Adaher on ignore. Life is more pleasant that way.

OK, this one has me really baffled.

What does Cruz (and presumably the general Republican voter) have against people with celiac disease? Are people with celiac disease not “real Americans”?

ETA: Oh, just read the rest of the thread. Apparently I hit the nail on the head. Nevermind.

I think many social conservative meat-and-[del]potatoes[/del]meat folks lump “gluten free” in with vegan, organic, locavore, raw food, etc. – dietary preferences that they see as stupid, sanctimonious liberal crap. Or they think that celiac disease is a made up thing that people convince themselves they have in order to get preferential treatment. Same way some people believe ADHD is either made up or vastly over-diagnosed. “Those kids just need a good spanking!” Similarly, “Gluten free? Just eat your damned spaghetti like everyone else, princess.” So under Cruz, our military won’t cater to these namby-pamby special snowflakes who think they have some made-up disease. Those soldiers will toughen up posthaste. Where do you expect to find organic vegan raw gluten free quinoa when you’re staring down ISIS, soldier?! This isn’t Obama’s Army anymore!!

And what is his position on the jello molds in the Capitol Cafeteria? The cotton\polyester fabric mix in the uniforms of the janitorial staff at US Embassies? Any other mindless minutia he thinks the POTUS should weigh in on to make the US more butch?

One of my favorite Elvis Costello songs!

So fuck people with celiac disease? They have to quit the military because, dammit, everyone else really really likes gluten?

Would such a medical condition preclude service in the military?

I’m pretty sure it does. I’m also not sure if gluten free MRES even exist.

Would it surprise anyone if a Republican was railing against a non-existant issue.

Great, the Navy Seals are sneaking up on the leader of ISIS, and a loud fart gives them away.

That would be a Republican, giving his opinion on something.

Whatever the logistical difficulties of deploying and feeding soldiers with food allergies, I imagine that an all-American meal of beef, potatoes, sweet corn, peaches, and a chocolate bar for dessert is already basically gluten-free. Is Ted going to mandate that wheat products be added to every package out of spite?

Chocolate is too expensive. It’ll be a wheatlate bar.

South Carolina Trump supporters - stupid squared?

Yep, stupid squared.

I’m surprised it’s that low.

Part of the Republican response to The Donald’s gauche gaffe of telling the truth about the 9/11 attacks:

Er, Marco, you know we have these things called “tape recorders” and “digital memory” and whatnot (you know, kind of like the ones in your circuitry, except without all the bugs and malfunctions). They have the whole story of Bill Clinton trying (but unfortunately failing because the timing was a few hours off) to take out Osama bin Laden in 1998 and getting accused of a “Wag the Dog” ploy by your buddies.

That’s OK, Bush got him! Wait, not Bush? It was Cheney? Wolfowitz?..

The problem is that a significant number of the people who believe in the whole “gluten-free” thing are anti-vaxers. Who, at least based on my experience, are almost 100% GOP-leaning. Might actually turn out to be a mistake for ole Ted.

Let’s be sure to forget all of that documentation Clinton left behind for Dubya about Osama’s plans to attack the US, which Dubya ignored.
