Stupid Republican idea of the day

:o Oh! Oh, my, oh fashion faux paux! Tammy, were you hung over this morning? You grabbed a mismatched pair of legs! I just hope this isn’t some kind of statement!

I am so going to Hell . . .

Don’t really know, but my impression of her is that she would laugh.

Derplahomans in full hate women rights mode. Not bothering to be subtle like some legislatures; Okie Repubs are in straight forward assault on abortion providers.

"Any physician who performs an abortion would be unable to obtain a license to practice medicine in Oklahoma under a measure the state Senate approved overwhelmingly Tuesday over the objection of some Democrats who insisted the measure is unconstitutional.

The Republican-controlled Senate voted 40-7, mostly along party lines, to approve the bill by Broken Arrow Republican Sen. Nathan Dahm."

Well, there go the OK OBs.

Actually, operatic castrati were renowned and much sought-after for amorous adventures with da ladeeez, although it’s thought that their actual performance may not have lived up to the hype. (Safety from unwanted pregnancy had to be a plus, though.)

Mostly castrated before adulthood, but in some cases afterwards.

West Virginia legislators who voted to legalize raw milk celebrated by drinking raw milk, got sick.

Well, there is some doubt about it, and it is the cold/flu season, but still…

Why in the HELL would anyone legislate against pasturization? It’s not like the science is in question, it demonstrably is a boon to health and I can’t think of a single reason someone should be drinking raw milk (or giving it to a child or baby!).

So dopers, why? I mean, is it because of Freedom? Or because Louie Pasteur was one of them Frenchmen furriners? It just boggles my mind.

Stupid idea, but not a stupid Republican idea. Democrats voted for the bill, too. Only 11 representatives voted against it but there are 34 Democrats.

I love this:

Way to get into the spirit of your own bill there sir. lol.

Of course. Anything the government says you may not do is automatically right from god, that must be defended at all cost.

Who introduced the bill? My guess is a Republican and if so it’s a Republican idea.

Because it costs dairies money?

I’ve seen raw milk for sale in a supermarket in the Pocono mountains in PA.

I’ve always wanted to try it, based on how much my mother said she loved it when she was a kid, but I’d rather try a bit fresh, not stored for God knows how long it takes to get to the market and get sold.

On the other hand, my mother also likes butter milk, which I find disgusting.

It is not as though they outlawed pasteurization. They simply made the sale of unpasteurized milk legal. As long as the product is properly identified, people should be able to make an informed choice (until they pass a law outlawing food labels, which is probably in ALEC-draft form).

Most retail milk AIUI is homogenized. I have heard that this breaks the milk fat into a size that passes more readily into the blood. I have my doubts about the validity of that claim, but the remote possibility exists that it could have some merit. If it does, that could be half a stroke in favor of the raw.

Still holding a grudge against the French?

Because Science is Evil, duh!

Don’t know what happened to the Evil Republican Idea of the Day thread. This probably belongs there, but in its absence:

Missouri Republicans pass constitutional amendment to legalize discrimination against gays.

Senator John Cornyn pledges to destroy the career and reputation of *anyone *who accepts Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Obama ordered the CIA to hire a hooker to kill Scalia.

A $2K/night hooker, too.

Actually, that sounds like kind of a bargain for whacking a SC justice. Way to show fiscal prudence with the taxpayers’ purse, Obama!
