And even if that was true I think that Trump’s support will remain in the 40’s among Republicans, his hair must be Teflon for them.

Good thing that in the general election match polls his support did go down, it seems that the majority of Americans have Teflon remover.

The next day, she said, Baker telephoned her and said, “Hey, you didn’t tell me you was married to no black man.”

She said she replied that she didn’t realize it was a problem.

“Oh, it’s a big problem with the members of my church, my community and my mother-in-law,” she quoted him as saying. “They don’t allow that black and white shacking.”

“We’re not shacking. We’re married,” she replied.

“Oh, it’s the same thing,” she quoted him as replying.

She said he told her, “You don’t talk like you wouldn’t be with no black man. If you would had come across like you were with a black man, we wouldn’t have this problem right now.”

What’s up with the modern GOP and their constant barrage of punitive policies?

My guesses:

1. They want to stick it to the poor, unemployed, minorities, LGBTQ, and women for being…poor, unemployed, minorities, LGBTQ, and women.

2. They believe that their policies are form of tough love designed to straighten people out (literally, too).

3. They’re following the OT model of pouring out wrath against anyone they think deserves it.

4. They want things to go back to the way they were in the distant past.

5a. Doing the bidding of the Koch Brothers and other corporate masters requires sticking it to the poor and unemployed.
5b. They found out that a non-trivial bloc of the white working poor will vote against their self-interest as long as the GOP promises to stick it even worse to those others

Etymology Pedant is helpless in the face of the compulsion to point out that actually, the “misce-” in “miscegenation” comes from Latin miscere “to mix” (combined with Latin genus “type, race”), rather than from Old English “mis-” “bad, wrong” (from Proto-Germanic *missa- “divergent, astray”).

Thus while jsgoddess is miscegenatin’, you are idemgenatin’ or possibly homogenatin’ (which sounds like it could be startling on a number of levels).

Same race as in you’re both under the same broad US classification(white, black, Asian), or same race as in you’re both the same nationality(Swedish, Tutsi, Chinese). Because I dare say that the vast majority of US marriages are interracial compared to other countries.
