Stupid Republican idea of the day

You mean the six incher or the six footer?

Sort of icky that so many millions of republicans are pulling for Cruz.

You misunderstand, there is no “P” in “North Carolina”, that’s how its spelled. Its entirely legal and Constitutional to pee on North Carolina.

You’re assuming a level of rational thought uncommon in Facebook rants.

Got it in one, although the phrasing was “I know who is with God and who is not”. I also ticked off the “they’re trying to silence people they don’t like!” Christian persecution box on my RWNJ bingo card.

When I pointed out that the only person Adams was silencing was himself, she reverted to grumbling about how she didn’t want to hear him or Bruce Springsteen anyway and she didn’t care what she thought. I contemplated pointing out that she had in fact gone out of her way to complain about what Adams thought and that she’d demanded the right to hear his music, but I decided I’d poked the bear enough for one day.

Ah, crazy relatives on Facebook - can’t live with 'em, can’t unfriend 'em.

You know how Flint, MI is having all those problems with their water and it will take lots of money to fix the pipe system? Well Sen Mike Lee says they have enough cash and can wait longer.

We’re only talking about 10,000 kids being exposed to lead and possibly an outbreak of Leagionnaire’s Disease that killed 10 people. Federal cash shouldn’t go to states! It’s not like a state that may need up to $1.5 billion in repairs deserves help! It’s not as if there is a federal agency that manages emergencies!

If they have the money, I’m not sure how it’s stupid to let them use their own. We need to get over this really, really dumb idea that wherever there is an area of concern, the federal government must take action whether or not such action is needed or helpful. If Michigan does in fact have a budget surplus, then there is no need for special federal aid.

Bryan Adams - actually recorded “Summer of '69”
Ryan Adams - reportedly would go apeshit when it was requested at concerts.

I’m going to assume the bill in question is S. 2579 which sets out methods for applying federal disaster funding for lead levels. Currently disaster funding can only really be applied against natural disasters so objecting to the expansion of the definition does makes some sense. That said, the Republican Governor has asked for such funding twice.

However the Senator’s objection was to infrastructure funding, but the bill seems to state that funding is tied to guaranteed loans which I’d guess come in a a federal interest rate. With US federal credit rating of AAA compared to Michigan’s Aa3, I’d hazard a guess that preventing Michigan from improving it’s infrastructure while saving money under the umbrella of Federal guarantees could easily be considered stupid. Assuming I’ve read the bill correctly.

Brian Adams - powerbombed anyone who suggested he use it as his entrance music.

I’ve made it easier to keep track of the Adamses: I now hate all three of them.

Sarah Palin: “Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am."

Sarah Palin goes after Bill Nye for supporting the predominant climate change theory, by saying he is not really a scientist:

No, Sarah, Bill Nye is more of a scientist than you are, and also more of a mother than you are., and he does not even have any kids.

Well this was painful to watch

Donald Trump gives Joe Paterno a shout-out in Pittsburgh

Nobody say it. Please, please, nobody say it.

What an ass.

Have we done this one yet in this thread?

Tennessee legislature votes to make the Bible official state book, April 5, 2016.

Looks like this happened about a week ago.

But they tried this also about a year ago too: Tenn. Lawmakers Moving to Name Bible ‘Official’ State Book, April 8, 2015. (Morgenstern mentioned this in passing in a more-or-less unrelated thread at the time.)

But! A spark of sanity glimmers yet unquenched! Republican (and Christian) Tennessee Gov. Haslam vetoes law christening Bible as official state book, April 14, 2016.

Proponents in the legislature vow to push for veto override. Article says they only need a simple majority in each house to override the veto. :smack: WTF? What’s the point of even having a veto if it only takes a simple majority to override? If they had a majority in each house to pass the bill in the first place, then they would most likely have a majority in each house to override a veto!

Does The Vulgar Talking Yam even know that Paterno is dead?

What, the thing about the toilet tube?

Somebody said it.
