Stupid Republican idea of the day

Right thinking people, apparently.

Now they’re also pushing through a redistricting bill prior to these recalls (which they delayed with the fake nominees, and after they promised not to do so) to help gerrymander their way to safety. Quality governance there…

Congress Votes to Roll Back Clean Water

*"In one of the most sweeping attacks on clean, safe water in our nation’s history, the House of Representatives today voted to turn back the clock 40 years on clean water protections. The “dirty water bill”, H.R. 2018 was introduced by Representative Mica (R-FL) and Representative Rahall (D-WV) and undermines critical Clean Water Act safeguards for public health, wildlife, and rivers.

The bill removes the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to ensure states effectively implement state water quality standards and improve them when those standards fail to protect clean water. Without this federal backstop, weak standards in one state may result in polluted waters downstream in other states regardless of whether those states have strong water quality standards or not."*

::Weeps for our country at the hands of these imbeciles::

Unsafe drinking water. It’s got what children need.

That’s going to die in the Senate though, right? Or at least get vetoed? Please?

I can’t see how that shit bill can get any further. Sad that it got as far as it did.

Electrolytes?

Given that Bill was co-sponsored by a Democrat, why is it a Stupid Republican Idea?

It’s actually more of a stupid corporate idea. It doesn’t surprise me that a WV Democrat co-sponsored it…mountaintop removal and the water pollution that follows is good for the coal companies…

Because, of the 212 votes required to pass (8 not voting), 223 came from Republicans?

I lurked here for a long time before registering, and this topic was one of the first to catch my eye…great reading.

Thank goodness that between continued urbanization, decreasing birthrates among caucasians, the slow death of Christianity (yes, it is dying), and the fracturing of their own party (teabaggers), the Republican party will eventually cease to exist in its current form.

There will always be a certain number of God-fearing fools who are eager to vote against their own best interests while helping wealthy people who wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire, but their numbers will eventually dwindle to the point where they no longer affect national politics.

Very amusing, Mr. Lobohan, but I assume you realize that a nomination for stupidest Republican idea is ineligible unless it’s uttered by someone capable of … er … ideation.

BTW, any fans of Mr. Galveston’s thinking can learn more by clicking on his name and clicking some more to get to:

Sigh. And can you believe that Kentucky has a 5-4 registration advantage for Democrats, and yet we put the likes of McConnell and Rand Paul in our Senate seats.

The problem is that the Kentucky Democratic Party could not find its ass with both hands, a flashlight, and an electronic ass-finder. And anyone who has a shot at beating Mitch would be foolish to try with such a pack of losers behind him.

I’m afraid we’re stuck with Mitch until someone can prove that he got out of the Army back in the day by being just gay enough. (An unlikely theory, for sure, but one I’ve always found particularly satisfying.)

This.

From your mouth to your deity’s ear.

Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) thinks the problems facing America are so challenging, they should just be "turned over to God."

Keep your god out of my government. If you can’t fix the problems we face, just stay out of the way of the people who can.

You mean, God?

I think maybe if unemployment doesn’t go below 9% we should sacrifice someone. The only wya to be sure that gawd is on our side.

Such stupid, empty-headed rhetoric.

What, are we going to stop doing anything, and simply pray to some farcical sky fairy to solve our problems for us?

Him too.

Unfortunately, they seem to breed like rabbits.
