Stupid Republican idea of the day

I believe there was a sale on pink knit hats at a local boutique.

Serious question. Why pipe the oil long distances? Why not just build a refinery where the oil is? Could it be because where they want to ship it to is a port city and they want to export it for foreign consumption? Not knowledgeable about the field at all, just asking questions.

You’d still need to ship the product to market.

There is a huge refinery, stinky and potentially dangerous, I suppose, on the east side of Edmonton, Alberta, one of the biggest I’ve ever seen. I imagine it is more effective to ship one product, crude oil, by pipeline rather than have several different lines, or use ‘plugs’ between different products in the line. Perhaps it is a crappy place to build anything new, up on the Great Slave Lake, etc. I don’t know.

So far as the tribal problems with the Dakota line…all forms of shipment of products that are oil or chemicals present safety and pollution challenges. A pipeline is supposed to be the safest, least polluting method. That’s why I simply said ‘cultural’ problems, questions about sacred ground, burial sites, etc. I also avoided singling out the tribal folks for eminent domain abuses on them, since everyone along the way was subject to the same sort of eminent domain procedure.

Refineries are huge, dirty, smelly, extremely expensive, and require expert employees to operate. They don’t that in western North Dakota. And there are existing refineries elsewhere that have unused capacity. Plus you still have to ship the refined output to customers – there aren’t many of them in western North Dakota, either.

Yes, I’m sure there is some of that involved, too.

Isn’t the DAPL aimed to end up in New Orleans?

Ends at Patoka, Ill.

Dakota resistance…back when the Seneca’s ability to sell gasoline and cigarettes without state taxes was questioned and challenged by the state of NY, the Seneca simply rolled burning tires onto the interstate from their stockpile of millions of scrap tires dumped for a small fee on the Rez. Effort ended soon, especially when the state was reminded of the power distribution lines crossing their nation.

Some Trumpettes tried to start a #ThankYouTrump Twitter rally…and it didn’t quite go as planned.

#ThankYouTrump for freezing all regulations. Who wants educated and concerned people looking out for our health, the environment and stuff”

#ThankYouTrump for gathering together a bunch of old, white, GOP men to sign away women’s rights in order to soothe your impotency issues. ”

“For caring about popular votes and crowd sizes more than the American people #ThankYouTrump

#ThankYouTrump for turning our country into a dystopian reality show”

Ladies and gentlemen, the chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.

I am sick to death of all the ignorant and evil Republicans. May they all drown in their own pflem.

Nitpick: phlegm

So it has to go over or under the Mississippi River?

Not a problem. Trump will just command the Mississippi to flow around the pipeline.

King Cannot has spoken!

Nickel says you been whooshed.

While many high ranking Republicans finally seem to get it about tax cuts and making sure they are revenue neutral, a lot of Republicans are still revelling in the stupid:

We’ve done this twice already. Tax cuts without spending cuts just means huge deficits and often economic bubbles. Do NOT do this a third time!

So you’re going to consider not voting for them any more?

My vote for Republican candidates has always been conditional on them actually being good candidates. I’ve only voted for a Republican for President twice in seven elections, and for Congress probably about 70% of the time. I don’t make excuses like, “Control of Congress! Supreme Court!” like Democrats do.

Great tax cutters of the past like Ronald Reagan??? He raised taxes 9 times (or 11 counting some other actions) during his 8 years in office.
