Stupid Republican idea of the day

Holding a green card is not the same as citizenship. A green card grants permanent residency. After five years of permanent residency, a person may apply for citizenship, which if granted terminates the green card.

Update: NSA Flynn has advised Canada that people travelling on Canadian passports will not be affected by the ban even if they also are dual citizens of one of the banned countries.

Brooklyn federal judge Judge Ann M. Donnelly has stayed some of Trump’s executive order thanks to the ACLU.

The ACLU? Do I have to write those smug, self-righteous fuckers another check?

Personally, I am advising any Canadian to avoid travel to the United States at the moment. The situation is not stable - who knows what Trump could come up with next, and someone could be stranded or worse. - a travel advisory should be issued.

Thrump keeps ramping up his ‘get everyone in America to hate me’ machine. He’s 2/3 of the way there.

Already, just a week into his term, looking drugged up and haggard.

Nah, he wants the courts to overturn his fiats so that he can point to them as the cause of all of the country’s woes.

Take it easy on the guy, he’s never had a job before.

Did we get the official inauguration panorama, which gives the date as January 21st 2017? This is what happens when you have the work done by a guy with an Arab-sounding name: he probably screwed it up deliberately.

Sean Spicer retweeted a video from The Onion which describes his role as “[providing] the American public with robust and clearly articulated misinformation”. Spicer’s view of this: “You nailed it! Period!

Either Spicer is spectacularly stupid or he is basically trolling America now. It’s so hard to tell anymore.

ETA: I’m leaning toward the former view based on the fact that Spicer has accidentally tweeted his password recently. Twice.

The “Judicial Branch”? What “Judicial Branch”? The Feds are now ignoring recent court orders that are supposed to be the last word in what is or isn’t Constitutional.

Okay, question: is there any indication how far up the refusal goes? I.E. are Trump voting officials making up their minds, or is there any indication that someone from the White House level is giving orders to this effect?

Also, is there anything the courts can do to sanction the officials who are actually the ones doing the refusals?

Don’t you see? By giving everyone in the Middle East a common enemy, like the British in the 20s and the Ottomans before that, Trump is going to bring about peace.

Genius!

I’m not an expert in immigration regulation or enforcement, but this strikes me as being one of those key details you might want to clear up BEFORE engaging in a radical alteration of national policy.

Trump has, of course, already lied profusely about this. He has claimed:

  1. That the chaos was caused by Delta Air Lines having a computer glitch (total falsehood; Delta had a glitch two days after the bad started the chaos.)

  2. That the chaos was somehow caused by protestors, which doesn’t even make any sense.

  3. That “only 109 people” have been detained for question, a claim of extremely dubious veracity.

I mentioned this in a GD thread. It was quite a weekend for the ACLU:

Go to https://www.whitehouse.gov/. Take a look at the bottom-right corner under “Our Government”. Do you notice anything missing? And in case you are thinking “oh, that was just an over site”, use the internet archive site to look at the White House site the day before the inauguration. Scary. :frowning: So much for the Judicial Branch. The only thing it’s good for is overturning Roe v Wade.

What? The Two Branches of Government are listed right there. In all seriousness, that’s worrying.

It’s there now.

Wow, it was gone from the 22nd until just a bit ago. I think my post got them to realize there were three branches. I’m going to pat myself on the back, just like our great leader does all the time. Good job wguy123. Every loves you. You have the best posts. Everyone is saying that. Except for the opposition, aka the media.
