Stupid Republican idea of the day

(sigh right back)

The CEO doesn’t need to shut up, we have freedom of expression in this country, however the shareholders may indeed want him to shut the fuck up. Which seems to be the case with Papa Johns current corporate shakeup. The shareholders are, in fact, able to tell the CEO to shut the fuck up.

A single NFL player does not speak for his entire team, let alone the entire NFL. You can certainly agitate for that player to be disciplined for the speech he decided to use, but these are clearly different things. I’m wondering why you can’t see the difference.

You are making value judgements here, when there are none to be made.

When an employee exercise their freedom of expression, that’s their right, good or bad.

When a CEO expresses their same freedom, that is their right too, good or bad.

Now that you see that both have rights to expression, and that ability is not an inherently good or bad thing, you should be able to tell what other differences there are between employees and owners.

did you even read what i was responding to?
Chimera told the PJ CEO to STFU. I was asking how that is different from the PJ CEO from telling the NFL players to STFU. Why is it not ok for PJ CEO to say STFU but it is OK for **Chimera **to say it?

Let me put it this way: Chimera seemed to be happy that PJ CEO’s statements (that he presumably disagrees with) came back to bite him in the ass. That he shoulda just keep his opinions to himself.
But. when others, including PJ CEO, were suggesting that the players stance should be used against them, that THEY should just kept their opinions to themselves many were outraged.

How is what **Chimera **said different from what PJ CEO said?

Holy crap. Yes all of us can read. Now that literacy has been established let’s move on.

Chimera does not represent a corporation with shareholders that would rather he not express those views. Clearly the (former) PJ CEO did represent a corporation with shareholders that have, in fact, told him that expressing his views have harmed the bottom line of the company, and therefore he is no longer the CEO.

Both Chimera and the (former) PJ CEO are able to express their opinions, but only one of them needed to worry about the company that they represent. As far as I know Chimera is not the CEO of a company so how would you suggest he face the same consequences?

Mr. “John” is welcome to say any damn thing he pleases, it is a free country, and short of inciting violence, his expressions are perfectly legal.

Chimera also is free to express him(/her?)self, even if that expression if mocking a CEO who has stuck his foot in his mouth.

If John is in a position that what he says may turn away customers from his restaurants and franchisee, then he needs to be careful about what he says. He is the head and defacto spokesmen for the company. He represents its values and positions.

Chimera represents only Chimera.

Other than that, the differences in what they said are many and vaired. Perhaps you would like to puruse the Papa John’s offical statements regarding the NFL protests, and demonstrate any similarties whatseover to what Chimera said.

I just realized this is the pit, where recreational outrage, hypocrisy, and willful misunderstanding rule the day. forget I said anything.

That won’t be a problem

I laughed.

Me too but it was because I read it as “rue the day”, which makes it a hilarious flounce.

…to say nothing of hilariously ironic displays of a lack of self-awareness.

Which makes me wonder what ever happened to the poster Rue DaDay, or however it was spelled.

It took you 36,059 posts to realize this thread is in the the pit? Kinda slow on the uptake aren’t ya?

Roy “Sore Loser” Moore is still stuck in the “denial” stage:

He throws in the kitchen sink…

…and scrapes the gunk out of the garbage disposal and throws that in too, filing a Breitbart article (complete with comment section) as an appendix to his complaint.

He’s still taking campaign contributions from the faithful. Also, for his foundation’s whore chest. “War chest”, sorry, slip of the keyboard. He doesn’t need money for hookers to “get some”, lollipops are pretty cheap.

One of Roy Moore’s lawyers is a JFK/Seth Rich murder conspiracy theorist

Another one is a Jews run the world conspiracy theorist

I wonder which one of those is their pet Jewish lawyer.

He has three experts: one who can read, one who can write, and one to keep an eye on the two dangerous intellectuals.

Sessions Says to Courts: Go Ahead, Jail People Because They’re Poor

As long as we’re returning to Dickensian times, why don’t we put children back to work in factories and coal mines, too? That way they can make a little money, and we can stop wasting taxpayer funds on schools. Win-win.

May I suggest that your Proposal is too Modest?

CMC fnord!
